He isn’t wrong, but this is how Saudi Arabia becomes a legit league if they say frick it and pay everybody.

salary cap will never happen because there are players associations that would have to sign on for it, and of course they won't. salary cap just means the owners get to keep most of the money instead of the players. no bueno

They’ll never be legit. There’s a whole lot more that makes the Premier League premier than top end talent.

Dirty little secret: when you pay a player, the money is gone. When the owner keeps a bit more, (mostly) it gets reinvested in the infrastructure, in the club.

There won't be a salary cap but I would guarantee their solution would be changing the financial trickle-down to the bottom rungs of the pyramid.

So every league then. And if it works for your league like Messi to MLS, why not? Ultimately, players will want to compete at the top level and most of those teams aren't wasting money on has beens (excepting Ronaldo to ManU of course).

But is it for MLS. The owners have shown their hand on why Messi is coming here. They don’t care about improving soccer in this country. Agreeing to all pay his wages, giving him a cut of Apple TV/Adidas money. Then jacking up FV prices on Miami matches when they come to your city is shameful. They don’t care about being competitive.

The top teams in other countries spend just as much as the prem, they just spend it terribly.
Juventus wage bill would be the 2nd highest in the prem.
Bayern, Madrid, Barca all have wages bills higher than anyone in the premier league.
La Liga in particular have allowed tv deals that don't allow for their middle clubs to progress because it's so weighted to wards the big 2/3. Maybe they should fix their own house first?
Perhaps they should fix the issues they all have with attendances neither Spain or Italy have more than 8 clubs averaging over 30,000 a game, the prem has 15. As many as them both combined
Premier League is responsible for only 5 of the 15 €100m transfer fees
The premier leagues smallest wage bill (Brentford, £15m) is smaller than Serie As (Cremonese 17m) and only 500k more than La Ligas (Almeria).500k more than Budesliga(Bochum)
