St Augustine FL - restaurants and things to do

I’d say look for lodging that’s walkable to St George street. That’s the main strip where all the action is. Several boating excursions there that looked fun but we didn’t do one. We did a ghost tour that was really cool. We ate at Prohibition Kitchen on St George and they had the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. Played some putt putt at some pirate theme placed that was an awesome little course if that’s something you might like. Def check out prohibition kitchen for food and/or drinks though. Really cool place.

Get the bootlegger burger and some poutine fries. Changed my life.

We always enjoyed the A1A Aleworks. If you can get a table on the 1nd floor balcony you can have a view overlooking the harbor and the Bridge of the Lions.

If you want something nicer look at Collage, even if all you get is the datil pepper bisque.

It’s also a family tradition to eat at Columbia. Start off with a pitcher of sangria and make sure to get a 1905 salad. The pompano there is also good.

My son has eaten at Prohibition Kitchen and loves it but I haven’t.

There used to be some fun dive bars but there are only a couple now, Anne O’Malleys being my favorite.

Bog Brewery is my favorite brewery there, if you like breweries bring some stickers from your local breweries and you can add them to their collection.

I’m sure you’ll tour the fort, the lighthouse is nice. I took the kids when they were teens to the to medieval torture museum and they loved it.

Daughters always liked the old schoolhouse.

There is a “music park” on St George that will have bands.

I’d recommend St Augustine Fish Camp as well.

St Augustine is a very cool town. Some of the attractions are a bit cheesy, but take the good with the bad. I used to live 30 minutes from St Augustine, and now I live 3 hours south of it, so my information may be outdated.

Some things to consider:

Alligator Farm - sounds cheesy, but it's not. It's a zoo for amphibians and birds. Lot's of things to see and it makes for a nice afternoon. Really.

St. Augustine Distillery - Fun, local distillery. Used to be free samples. Nice experience, and I understand you can take the trolley.

O'Steens for shrimp - An iconic St. Augie restaurant. Not the best atmosphere or the finest food, but they specialize in fried shrimp, and do a damn good job of it for a pretty reasonable price.

St. George St and Castillo de San Marcos - Obvious is obvious.

Anastasia State Park - our favorite beach. You have to pay to get in, but parking and beach access are great and you can rent sailboards, buy food and drinks inside the park.

Hyppo Ice Pops - Delicious. Expensive? Yes. But on a hot day, they hit the spot.

You'll see all kinds of touristy stuff, as well. Maybe consider if the weather is bad. Otherwise, you can spend a day or two just exploring.

Mid Range - Columbia ... but kind of a funky smell when there a few months ago ...on Level 1 (might have been the fountain water)

I second this it is pricey but worth it.

some newer places on St. George st.
1) Sainte-George Restaurant - good food and sit on the bacony over looking the Fort
2)River and Fort- great food and good location
3)Prohibition Kitchen or OC White's for lunch

you want to venture a little bit away from the heart of St.Augustine go to Conch House or Caps on the Water(gets really busy on the weekends though.)

Take the St.Augustine Distillery Tour and then right next to it is the ICE Plant. Great seasonal drinks and a great early 1900's vibe.

Things to do: Take a trolly ride get your bearing so you can walk around St. Augustine and learn the great history. Alligator farm is fun or just drive along A1A either north to Ponte Vedra Beach or head south to Daytona its a beautiful drive either way along the Atlantic Ocean.If you drive south stop at Washington Oaks State Park its beautiful my wife does photography there.



eta: How can i forget drive 15-20 mins West to World Golf Village and I-95. Yes there is a Bucee's
