if we went to 4 10's as a standard across the board, how many years do you think it would be until the "10 hour work day is too long" mantra would start, and there would be a push for 4 8's to be the standard
Why does this structure of days and times mean so much to you? Jobs are jobs, they have amounts of work needed in amounts of time for an amount of money.

If you bid an addition to your house do you stipulate they must work 5 8 hour days. No, or I would hope not. You would pay them for the job. The job is to build the addition, up to spec, for an agreed upon amount, in an agreed upon time in most cases. I dont care, if it is 3 12s, 4 10s, or 3 sixes. It either meets the terms or it does not.

It is all about control. Dictating when and how long the capital owner controls your life in exchange for money.

Stop bitching and go to work. And nobody gives a frick about how hard or long you work. Welcome to adulthood.

Not even to mention all the service workers who are just shafted in this utopia.

Are they really anymore “shafted” than they are now with most non service workers doing 5 days a week?

Btw they aren’t shafted at all and you’re probably a communist if you think they are.

I'm not sure how you mix WFH and 4 days? At some point you have to be accountable for certain hours? The few people that just say "I get my work done when I get it done and then I'm done for the day" have no responsibility outside of their own, clients to help, etc. and are more the exception than the norm.

But I agree, there's no reason for most office type of jobs to have a stale 8-5 M-F work week. Companies need to be better about having some sort of flexibility when possible.

I'd rather work 8 hr days than 4-10s at this point. That's a long day and I like getting off at 4.

LOL, will never ever happen. The US is permanently cucked by corporations who would never allow it. It's culturally ingrained at this point, people in other countries aren't chained to emails at all hours of the night and weekend or chastised for taking vacations, whereas that is commonplace in the US.

That the resident commie is in favor of it should tell you what you need to know.

Yes, I know. There are some jobs that 5 days a week don’t work for either.

Sounds good on paper, but the reality is, a lot of folks would come in on the 5th day and work even more hours per week…

I understand but asking for a friend........and just who will work on Fridays? We already have a small amount of time to conduct business during the week, cutting out a lot of people on Fridays will be tough.
