Eunice, Mamou, and Ville platte have some of the best food in Acadiana. Why don't you just say Acadiana is where the best cajun food is.
St Landry Parish is full of rice fields and crawfish fields. The Cajun Music Hall of FAme is in Eunice. Eunice also holds the Annual World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-Off. One of the best courir de mardi gras is in Eunice. Eunice has the world famous Rendez-vous des Cajuns at the Liberty Theater and the Prairie Cajun cultural museum.

And I'd put Eunice's boudin, sausage and chicken/duck gumbo, sauce piquant, Jambalaya, and Rice and Gravy against any other area.

There aren’t many good dining establishments period in Shreveport. My top 3 for good tasting food.
Taylor’s on North Martket. Nothing fancy but terrific “soul food/Grandmas cooking” type place.

Marylyn’s Place on Fern Ave. Owner is a New Orleans transplant and food is terrific. Again, establishment is nothing fancy. In fact it used to be a gas station. But food is terrific and he gives you a ton for what you pay.

Last is The Blind Tiger in downtown.

Best bet for LA food in Omaha is to cook in your hotel room and eat “Bayou Self”

I remember Mama’s Pizza being very popular when I was there for work for a couple of months in 2017 but I’ll be taking my son Friday night to Piezon’s Pizzeria. I was pretty regular there at the previous spot, which was primarily takeout. It’s now a few doors down from where it was and a full restaurant. I shot the shite a lot with the owner, Matt Vrzal. He was a back-up offensive lineman for Nebraska under Tom Osbourne back in the mid-90’s. We talked a lot about that and LSU (he was very respectful). Also, having played against them in the ‘95 natty, he hates the Gators. Big positive there of course. My last night in there I told him I was pulling out to head back home the next day and he would not take my money for the pizza. On the house. Really good dude.

And the pizza is TOP NOTCH!!

I second the folks that recommended The Drover for steak. That was our splurge steak night choice and it was fantastic.

Believe the steaks at The Drover are in the $40-$50 range. Huge menu with a salad bar. Well, at least they had a salad bar the last time I was there. Lol

I don’t always eat Louisiana cuisine, but when I do it’s in Omaha!

If Louisiana cuisine is anything like Texas I’ll stay far away

There are no Cajun restaurants in Shreveport. Some places may have gumbo on the menu. If the people of Shreveport want great Cajun food they need to talk me into opening a restaurant.

Regarding The Drover: I’m actually in Omaha tonight and will go eat there and post some prices. I got turned on to it a few years ago by a client and try to go every time I’m in town. Yes, they still have a salad bar and the atmosphere is like a mix or a 70’s porno and western saloon. I actually got a case of Blantons there about a year ago pretty close to msrp when the owner ordered his own barrel.

It was packed and I couldn’t even get a seat at the bar to eat. Had to settle for Burger King on the way back to the Double Tree which I am now regretting lol. Steaks are awesome though $40-$80 range and comes with a salad bar that’s good and a traditional steakhouse side…baked potato, fries, steamed veggies. You have to ask for the “whiskey” version of whatever steak you order that’s done in their special marinade. It’s not a big place so I would recommend reservations after seeing how packed it was tonight.

This quote does not say ALL places north of I-10, just that there are some. The reading comprehension on this board is dismal.

I live about an hour north of Omaha. I’ll be down there Saturday for the game and will be looking for some LSU tailgates!

Drover is still really good and has the salad bar and prices are about what has been posted. Another good place is out west Omaha on 144th called Charlie's on the Lake. Good steaks, especially the blackened Prime Rib. Reasonable prices - $30-55 range. Cascio's is close to downtown (10th St - south of downtown) has good steaks but great Chicken Alfredo and Chicken Parmesan - reasonable prices. We do have a Texas de Brazil downtown now if you want to fork out $60-65 for all you can eat meal. If you haven't had a chance to try it somewhere, it's worth the money. Just avoid the tempting salad/sides bar before they bring the meat around. We also have a Texas Roadhouse on Hwy 370 and 72nd which is reliable for good steak. My wife swears by the Filet Mignon and she's a picky steak eater.
I agree that Mouth of the South is pretty good - the boudin balls appetizer is worth the trip, in my opinion.
If you want to try some pizza and/or pasta from a local mainstay, try Johnny Sortino's on L St - between 72nd and 84th. I love their spaghetti and meatballs and their pizza is awesome also. Hate to say, but I would avoid another longtime staple of Omaha - Lansky's. Every since the 2020 pandemic debacle, they have been subpar.
Have a safe trip and I hope to see some of you at Barrett's.
