Got 135k on it, the DEF system just shite the bed, gunna remove it, the cat converter and put the straight pipe, do the delete and the tuner,,,,,not planning to tune it crazy, or to “roll coal”. Has anyone done it ? If so, much more throttle response? It very sluggish in stock configurations. Any other improvements you’ve seen?

I know of 3 that were deleted and all of them burned rod bearings. The bottom end of that Cummins 5.0 is not strong enough to be turned up

Sell it, I may get an XD but the 5.6, I listen to DWNSHFTFI when it comes to motors and he has said to steer clear, no fixing that motor.

Whatever you do don't get a 5.3 GM.

I know it has been done before.

I'm assuming you're going to use this for off-road use only. Tampering with emission systems is a federal crime and driving a such modified truck on the highway could get you in some shite.

You should not add any power or eliminate the torque management. Basically, just deactivate the emissions control parameters and allow the engine to otherwise operate exactly as it does now. Add a fairly restrictive muffler to generate backpressure and prevent turbo stalls or overspeed.

That engine already makes the power it can reliably handle.

That engine should have never existed...

It's just misapplied. Once the EGR cooler thing got sorted out, it became a decent engine. It's not nearly worth what it costs IMO.

It shouldnt have, but I still wish it would have worked out. It legit ticks every single box that I want in a truck.

It should have been the already existing ISB4.5. It couldn't be, because they were bent on having a 500 ft-lb engine and the 4 cylinder just can't get you there reliably, but that was still the better choice for that size truck.

I think the 5.0 was already in the works for quite a while but it was a solution looking for a problem. It just costs too much to be appealing in a nissan.

Run a search on my the threads I have started.

The transmissions are trash, the AFM is trash, both guaranteed failures.

That also makes zero cents. Idiocy on Nissan's part.

The newest generation of the endurance motor fixed cylinder 7. And that's why it will be my next truck. Nissan will very likely go hybrid for 2024.

Doubt it considering they already announced that the 24s will likely be the last Titans.

Who announced? Nissan? Or a few blogs in response to them pulling out of canada?

The availability has been the real limiting factor.

A few designs were patented over the last two years that appear to be a redesign of them f-alpha platform. Unless they are planning for a 400+HP midsize... It's going in something bigger with a straight axle.

So you are saying I should hold off on buying a truck huh? An XD with a little more power would be awesome.

That's my plan, looking at the Ram, F150 with the 5.0 and the Titan XD.

Feature of all Titans really. VK56DE is a solid engine, but they put weak transmissions and axles behind them. I remember whenthe Titans first came out, owners wanted to tune the trucks so badly but as soon as they upped the power even modestly they would burn out the trasmission (same unit used in some Jeep products of the time) or blow up the rearend.
