Any place in Baton Rouge sell good fresh scallops? Whole Foods were not so great.

Fresh Market has them, and I would call Tony's to see if they have any.

Please let me know because I too have not found any good quality ones either. The ones at the rouses by my house are like the size of dimes and sit in a milk-y water bath. Who are eating those things?

I would expect them all to be previously frozen

They will all be previously frozen, just like the shrimp and salmon and anything else they label as fresh. However, you can tell the difference between quality scallops and the cheap ones like the poster mentioned at Rouses. I have seen some really nice looking ones at Whole Foods before but OP said they didn’t look good recently.

I haven't bought any recently, but Fresh Market use to have decent ones. Both the large and small variety. I also buy some from Alexander's Market occasionally and never had issue with them.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve just been really disappointed with anything seafood at Whole Foods lately (the meats however have been great). But it does seem like Scallops are a foreign concept here in particular. My buddy in Dallas keeps sending me pics of the amazing and huge scallops they can buy up there and it pisses me off!

Costco has them frozen and I like them from there.

I feel like we've gotten them at Maxwell's before or Oak Point in Central.

I got some frozen ones at Sam's today that are beautiful.
Most of what you're getting from the seafood counter at your grocery is previously frozen anyway.

Restaurant Depot can order you a gallon pail of fresh ones.

Calandros often has them frozen, ask at butcher counter. Anna Maria seafood truck at BREDA Thur and Sat market often has them frozen. Be cautious about overly big scallops. They are often fake and made from skates, sharks, etc.
