He was actually sued for not doing so.

POLITICO said DeSantis refused to give a “statewide order to close the coasts” despite CNN and Democrats having “sound[ed] the alarm.” “It’s irresponsible, the critics say, to keep beaches open during a pandemic that arrived just in time to greet Florida’s infamous spring breakers,” they said. March 20, 2020, DeSantis signed Executive Order 20-70 to close down businesses and beaches in Broward and Palm Beach County. DeSantis said the order was based on recommendations from local officials, but also Trump’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention. “That’s based off the recommendations of local officials but also the CDC recommendations, that when you do have community spread, then there’s additional items that should be on the list,” he said. “Southeast Florida is the epicenter of what we’re fighting in Florida, so we want to work constructively with the local folks.” Not only did the governor not close beaches statewide, but he was sued by Democrat Daniel Uhlfelder for not doing so. In a complaint filed in the Second Judicial Circuit, Uhlfelder contends DeSantis ‘has the responsibility to initiate immediate action to cope with the emerging health problems and try to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.’

President Donald Trump had direct praise for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at a press conference Tuesday: "Great governor. Knows exactly what he’s doing." You are playing word games.
It was his order they operated under.

When I lived in Destin, we were shut down for about a week. I still don’t know if this was because of DeSantis or the local Destin government
I thought DeSantis was a rock star during COVID (at least in the part of Florida I lived)
Having said that, I’m still in favor of Trump as next president. But, will also support DeSantis if he gets the nod

No. You, like all good progressives are dug into your stupid narrative.

If he didn’t like what DeSantis was doing or not doing, maybe he should have tried to become Governor?

Boring. You choose the fantasy like all good cult45s
You’ve been provided direct evidence that he gave no such order and you still choose the fairytale. Sad.

Is it a fairy tale that DeSantis ordered COVID-1984 checkpoints?

You're using the generic State of Emergency declaration?
Did we have a federal State of Emergency declaration?
Hmmmmm?

The amount of gaslighting over something that did or didn’t happen only three years ago is astounding. It’s still clear in people’s memories. Florida was one of the few states that did not shut down. I know of quite a few who had to change vacation plans and opted to go to Florida since it was still open.
I’ll vote for Trump if he’s the nominee - it’s pretty much his already- but wish he’d spend more time focusing on Biden’s economy and foreign policy. That’s his bread and butter. COVID is not a good subject for him.

I have stated I don't even really support RDS anymore, but all the stupidity parroted by Trumpkin NPCs is just too much.
At a certain point they have to start coming back to reality after living in Kekistan since 2016

I don't understand how anyone could still be under his spell after he gave the keys to the kingdom to Fauci for a year. That's something I can't forgive him for.

I'm here. I know what happened.
When he ended that order in mid summer of 2021, those areas had no authority to act on and it all came to an end.
quote:
WHEREAS, as Governor, I am responsible for meeting the dangers presented to this state
and its people by this emergency.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RON DESANTIS, as Governor of Florida, by virtue of the
authority vested in me by Article IV, Section (l)(a) of the Florida Constitution, Chapter 252,
Florida Statutes, and all other applicable laws, promulgate the following Executive Order to take
immediate effect

Answer my question.
Why didn’t we face the same thing here in NE Florida.
You keep saying Ron closed Florida beaches. Why were our open and no arrests.
