California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) now says he is open to the idea of cash reparations for slavery, after he indicated several days ago he was opposed to the idea, which was recommended by his own task force on the issue.

Fox News Digital reported that Newsom was declining to back the committee’s forthcoming recommendations, saying that confronting the legacy of slavery “is about much more than cash payments.”

Now, however, after a predictable media storm and backlash from the black activists whose hopes he had raised with the reparations task force, Newsom is moving back in the opposite direction. The Sacramento Bee reports:
A spokesperson for Newsom clarified his comments in an email statement to The Bee.
“The sensationalized framing in pieces published by outlets like Fox News and others is inaccurate. The Governor looks forward to reviewing the final report — and all recommendations — when complete.”
Newsom’s chief communication advisor, Anthony York said that Newsom is not backing away from cash payments, but wants to wait for the report in its entirety to arrive on his desk before he makes any decision.
The committee’s other, non-cash recommendations include overriding the will of the voters and repealing the law that prevents California from using race-based policies, such as affirmative action, in state actions.

Guess his 23-and-me came back positive for black.
Well, 22-and-you is the Democrat version.

It would be the end of our country - blacks will flaunt it in our faces - a real race war will happen and deservedly so

I’m sure the money would be used to better themselves and their children and not to buy a Mercedes Benz and 75 inch TV

It is just a few more zeros in the giant imaginary budget computer. What could go wrong?

LBJ already did that to the tune of 22 trillion's worth of vote buying. The side effects are somewhere between lethal and self-destructive.

I fully support this as long as California puts into the law that no Federal funds would be solicited or used to make the payments.

So no more need for medicaid, government assisted housing, and food stamps?

Country’s coming to a major crossroads regardless.
We’re already seeing a bunch of “crossing the Rubicon” shite and while not immediate, that kind of thing transformed Rome from a republic into an empire as events played out past that line-crossing.

It is amazing how 12% of the population has literally commanded the left bend over.
Free crap will continue until we are fully bankrupt and Venezuela will be paradise.

A state that never had slavery is trying to force people who never had slaves to pay people who never were slaves....sounds pure Cali to me.

He and the democrats will need to do a study and results will be out around January 2025, just a coincidence this is after the election... But prior to those results, they will lean heavily to at least $500K per individual but will settle at allowing the shoplifting limit of $1k per trip until all retail businesses in CA close..

The inflation would make it impossible for poor people, who would turn on these newly moneyed black people.
