During the month of April 2023, U.S. Central Command, along with coalition and other partners, conducted a total of 35 D-ISIS operations, resulting in 13 ISIS operatives killed and 28 detained. These operations showcase our enduring commitment to the lasting defeat of ISIS and the continued need for targeted military efforts to prevent ISIS members from conducting attacks and regaining a foothold. We remain focused on building local partner forces’ capabilities to prevent ISIS resurgence.  The following is a breakdown of D-ISIS operations for April 2023 by country: In Iraq: 25 partnered operations 0 US-only operations 9 ISIS operatives killed 7 ISIS operatives detained

Except he did end their chicanery. They exerted zero military strength during the end of his presidency.

You're not wrong but the State Department follow up after our military kicked their arse is the main reason it was a disaster. Not sure why we even have a State Department, seriously.

Yes we are and my son is headed there for the months of June and July to fly operations. He was there last June and flew over 100 hours of combat in 30 days.

They are there and stretched to the limit when there.

Is there anything you can tell us about the Iraqi armed forces WRT their commitment to a free and democratic nation of Iraq?

Nothing specific to his time there. In my experience (being there long ago) there really isn’t a path for a democracy I that region. Turkey is the closest thing to a functioning democracy in the region (well Isreal too but the demographics of Israel are radically different).

The idea of an American style democracy will not fly in a populace that is hewn together artificially. We are past the point where it’s possible, but breaking that region back into its original states before the Ottoman Empire would have been the most probable solution for long term peace. You still would have had tribal conflicts, but trying to force the various groups to co-exist is a fool’s errand.

I’ll use the same argument I used on neoconservatives since you are both the same and now it’s the left’s turn to rear its ugly head in regard to terrible foreign policy.

You can’t eradicate terrorism. It’s an idea. It’s like trying to eradicate sin. You can, however, greatly subdue operational efforts of people who are motivated by it.

We did that under Trump more than Bush or O’Ninja ever cared to. They loved to have it sustained. Obama even expanded it to other countries like Libya.

I’m more interested in ending your movement than any foreign adversaries, though.

I was skeptical of the need to go into Iraq in the 1st place, but I bought into the 'intel' guys who claimed yellowcake and mobilized chem labs...

Of course, the exact same things W and the GOP said to get into Iraq were what Dems were saying when Bill Clinton was in office. Identical, word for word in some cases. But he never pulled the trigger. Didn't get the chance or what ever...

I was wrong. I'll admit it. The 'you broke it, you own it' mentality of Colin Powell was 100% BS. No damn way we should have gone in heavy and then tried to rebuild. Only to have Potato Biden leave Afghanistan and Bagram airbase. Pure lunacy.

We are helping the Iraqis fight for their freedom. Last generation sucked so
Hopefully this new generation wants freedom or we’ll keep killing them.
