I was watching Velvez,Williams and Del Rosio and man Velez was like Steve Nash passing to Williams. This team may go undefeated.

I wish we had another big in the class. Del Rosio looks like she will need a lot of work before she sees meaningful playing minutes. Hopefully getting her on a fitness and weightlifting program will increase her speed and agility. She looks slow out there on the court.

SC and Uconn had good recruiting classes as well, it is not as easy as you think. Also #1 recruiting vs #3 or #6 is subjective.

I still would not consider MW or AM big. Maybe it's being picky, but I'd love one more 6'5er. Really excited about Del Rosario.
SC had 3 girls over 6'4. That one lady who was 6'7 seemed unstoppable in the game against LSU.

Rim protector, clean the glass, and defend the other teams big….especially if they have a good one. Another big body when others get in foul trouble. Not sure if we have that dedicated player for the rotation.

We also have Smith who is 6’2 and long. But I think he’s right, we could use an athletic 6’4 or taller player and he’s right about Del Rosario also. She will train and get some playing time, simply to stay under the rim, just like Smith and Day did because of her height but if we need her to defend some of these more athletic bigs in the country, she’ll have some issues.
But I assure you, we are plenty big enough to get the job done and even with a slightly smaller lineup, these girls we picked up aren’t small. They are big bodied girls which could be even tougher to defend. They can all move really well, they can all shoot, they can all drive and we have the best rebounder in the country by a mile.
Even if we have issues with one or two teams defensively, they will also have issues guarding our lineup defensively. We just added like 3 Poole type players who are elite shooters and are also elite drivers. Not to mention that they aren’t terrible when it comes to rebounds and defending. Watch some videos of Morrow, HVL and Williams on offense and defense.
I like our lineup because it’s versatile. If we need length, we can go with Reese, Smith, Del Rosario, HVL and Morrow/ Williams and we would still have plenty of offense with that lineup. We also have Bartlett and Alissa Williams who are both big girls. 6’3 and 6’2 forwards. Adding one more 6’4/ 6’5 foward/center wouldn’t hurt though. If Mulkey and staff can work with Smith and Del Rosario on handling the ball and their outside shots then we’ll be more than fine. Smith may not be 6’5 but she plays taller than 6’2 so that will help us. She’s not a freshman anymore and she saw plenty of high pressure minutes last season to help her to grow this season. Who knows, we could hear another top players name being called up to commit to LSU soon too??? Idk just saying?

I have a feeling we're still going to add one more senior / graduate post player to pair with Angel. Someone who's gonna give us the same kind of size Ladazhia gave us this past season.

The problem is posts (I'm talking about true bigs) are highly scarce from the portal this year. They may not have that option unfortunately.
LSU was fortunate to land Morrow though, because she is the most high profile post outside of Lauren Betts (who is off to UCLA)

Has Lauren Ware signed yet. We should kick the tires on her. Need someone to offset that tower that dawn has. Now she has 2 women 6’5 and over

We do. Got 4 bigs as the starting 5 this coming season

Maybe what this team lacks in height they can make up with athleticism. Morrow had 87 steals last season and 89 in her freshman year.

Even if they had 6-5 Ailyah Boston back, you do realize that Morrow got 12.2 rebs per game while Boston only got 9.8 rpg? 6-7 Cardoso & 6-5 Walker are taller but not better rebounders than 6-1 Morrow or 6-3 Reese (15.4 rpg).
There's more to rebounding than height. There's strength, quickness and rebounding angle IQ that great rebounders possess. It's why a 6-6 Charles Barkley avg'd 11.7 rpg while 7-0 Patrick Ewing avg'd 9.8 rpg. Or why 6-7 Rodman avg'd 13.1 rpg while 7-0 Olajuwon avg'd 11.1
Assuming health, LSU's unknown issue is if Morrow and/or Reese are not on the court for whatever reason (fatigue, fouls, flu, etc.), but that's the same issue every team could face with lesser/unproven backup front court players filling in for their starters.

quote:To put it in perspective, obviously Reese and Morrow are great in the front court. But they're 6'3" and 6'1". Del Rosario goes 6'5" but looks to need some work. Bartlett is 6'3". Smith & Alisa Williams are 6'2".

UConn goes 6'5", 6'5", 6'4", 6'3", 6'2", 6'2" in their frontcourt with a pair of fantastic guards.
Unless Del Rosario really comes along, we'll field a team more undersized next year than we were this year. Granted, that's deceptive, because Reese and Morrow are proven rebounders. But it's going to be a challenge.
The November Cayman Classic will be telling. LSU, UConn and UCLA will probably be 3 of the top 4 teams in preseason polls. VTech should be Top 10 as well. UCLA comes with a 6'7" girl along with several 6'4" forwards. So Mulkey's crew will get their height challenge right away.

Yep, this is where I have my concerns. Samyah Smith would be first off the bench, and while she is competent & has had key putbacks, rebounds & blocks in some wins, she hasn't shown she's elite in any category (yet) to offset her lack of height vs taller players, especially if she is needed for extended minutes or multiple starts. Bartlett & A. Williams remain unknowns but still shorter than ideal. Del Rosario has the ideal frame/mass but truthfully may need a redshirt year, unless Mulkey can work a quick miracle.
I ideally would like to add a competent 6-4+ F/C for depth, if even available. If we don't, I'll just have to accept our overall front court height as this superteam's achilles and pray for sustained health & no habitual foul trouble. Hopefully, the unguardable offensive mismatches a healthy Fab Five presents taller, slower defenses makes our concerns irrelevant & the ppg margin in wins astronomical.

Golden state has won 4 championships the past 8 years with a very small NBA team but they have great shooters. This year the taller Lakers seem to have them on the ropes but I think we'll be fine with our roster! We have great players.
