This guy can't go the way of Feinstein fast enough.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, on Thursday unveiled a proposal to raise the national minimum wage to $17 an hour.

“It is time to raise the minimum wage to a living wage. As chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee, that is exactly what I intend to see happen,” he said at a press conference Thursday.

Sanders is renewing his push to raise the national minimum wage more than two years after eight Senate Democrats joined all Republicans in rejecting a proposal, 58-42, to include a $15-an-hour national minimum wage in the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, which President Biden signed into law in March of 2021.

The Vermont senator on Thursday said a $15-an-hour wage in 2021 is equal to a $17-an-hour wage in 2023 because of inflation.

Yeah, because 16 year old kids flipping burgers need to earn enough to support a family of 4.

Bingo.

If you are "raising" a family working min wage you should have your kids taken from you for being an idiot.

Didn't the Democrats say that the last increase back in 2007/8-ish was going to "fix the problem"?

Will you people ever learn to support labor and stop with this nonsense libertarianism ideas of economics.

Your economy is run no different than a communist nation. We just have BlackRock and the Fed instead of a Politburo.

DOA

$17 is the new $15. With Bidenflation it would technically need to be $30.

I hate commies. When a politician lives woth poors and doesn’t own 4 houses and get insider trading info, maybe then I’ll listen to them. I said listen, not agree. But these commies live in their mansions with gates and guards.

This will just speed up workers being replaced by AI. Then no one will have a job and be more dependent on the federal government.

He doesn’t give a schite. He has already created his wealth off of people that voted for him. He is a POS.

But he will tell you he is worse off financially than the people that create jobs. He has millions in the bank thanks to the people that voted for him. It’s not on just one side. It’s on both.

We have gone stupid as society.

Wait I thought $15/hr was a fair, livable wage. Are you telling me it'll never be enough? Why not $100/hr?

$17 is not a living wage today. I couldn't imagine supporting a family on $17.

I don't support a minimum wage either, but the way they throw around "living wage" is just not right.

He doesn’t believe anything about this. He knows it sounds great to people that would love to have a break from financial burden, but he pushes the garbage that will continue to keep the bottom half down that will vote for him. You cannot have higher wages unless your cost of living life goes up. You are in the same boat you were in before you received a increase in wage. Higher wages means the price of goods go up.
Inflation takes care of that. It wipes out every bit that your raise increases to.

This is not difficult to figure out.
