That was likely given to them by their parents and/or purchased with debt.

And once again that’s fine. I’m not at all saying that you should NEVER take on debt. I’m also not at all saying that people today don’t have it harder than people 10/20/30 years ago. I do think debt should be minimized wherever possible, and you shouldn’t make objectively bad financial decisions because you’re not willing to endure temporary discomfort.

Step 1. Live at home with their parents
saving money until they've built up a healthy savings, or even saved up for a house.

Step 2. Get berated by older generations for being lazy and entitled.

That's the true leg up over most people. Oh, and having two parents there in your li

everyone else suffered thru unhappy marriages for the good of their children. Boomers dropped acid and decided they get to be free spirits, letting their kids pay the bill

luckily millennials learned from their parent's mistakes

Oh lawd. We are all average at more things than we excel at. To say average = loser shows that you do not know how everything works. If you do not know how things work, you cannot be smart enough to be above that average.

sure bub, of could be you suck at reading comprehension. i said being ok with being average

but if you are making average money...then imo you are kind of a loser as far as life goes. and being average is one of the worst things in life you could strive to be.

i understand the numbers, i do have a minor in math, but that doesnt mean you should be ok with it. there have been plenty of time in my life, hell half of my adult hood, where i was average or below average. never was i proud of that, never was i content with that.

that was the point of my post, being average and being content with that=loser. i understand for some thats the best they can hope for and i understand people have different priorties but we should always strive to be better.

Nope, eliminating the middle class is the goal. Corporate monarchies are just replacing traditional monarchies.

I guess I'm a boomer? I've never known anyone in my life that has taken LSD but I can't go a day on this place without seeing someone on here talking about doing acid, and I'd guess that the majority on here aren't boomers

Maybe a long time ago

Nowadays you have this one trait and you disproved the Pythagorean theorem, get $197 million in college scholarships, and they put your space suit in the Smithsonian

Not that you're trying to be misleading intentionally, but this is a misleading stat. The percentage of divorced people per 1,000 married people has dropped, but so has the overall population of married people overall. People are not getting married, but marriage has a very high correlation with overall financial success, among other benefits that would likely help young people "get ahead".

I'm serious, I'm not drug tested anymore, at the present, I might give it a try but wouldn't have a clue as to where to get it, pot either

Give us the whole story. How did you do it? What did you cut back on in order to do that?

Cause otherwise, this reads like a Dave Ramsey show.

Dave: Wow, you paid off $217K of debt in 13 months! Amazing! God is great! How did you do it?

Caller: Mom died, inherited a house with no mortgage, sold it, pad off debt.

Dave: oh ok!

Hell, I wouldn't know where to get any of that stuff either anymore. That wasn't always the case though

And what’s the deal with women complaining about trans competing against them? 99% of women are linebackers these days, they should suit up and hit the gridiron and show those boys some girl power

Believe it or not, that clarifies it greatly and I can accept that view.

I may put it differently, but that might just be being obtuse.

I know a woman that lived at home for 10 years after graduation. Had a good job and a good income, but traveled a lot for work, worked a ton so didn't have a real social life. Parents never charged her a dime for anything. She saved over 90% of her take home pay.

Then at 32, she moved into a small apartment, not at all a nice one, where she lived for 6 more years until she married the first guy she ever really dated. 3 years later, they had a kid.

She does have a ton of savings and investments... but i can't imagine dealing with diapers at 41 years old.
