Heading there soon for our first time. Getting pretty excited for this aspirational bucket list trip just to get away to relax and recharge.

Flying roundtrip Qatar Airways Q-Suites "World's Best Business Class" and will be staying at The Waldorf Astoria Maldives.

Interested in hearing about other's trip and and any Maldives experiences.

33 straight hours of travel from door to door.
Was a fantastic trip.
Stayed at JW Marriott.
Will never go back.

Fantastic trip.

If you have a long layover in Doha, go ahead and reserve a room in the Oryx hotel in the airport. The Qatar lounge is really nice but nowhere to sleep if you are stuck there for 6-8 hours. It's always full, so you must book ahead.

Be prepared for a long wait for the seaplane. and, unless you book a private seaplane, it can take multiple stops before you get to your resort.

We stayed in the Nautilus. Super small -- only 28 rooms. It was crazy. On my dive trips, it was me, the dive instructor, the boat captain and two guys to help with my gear. Food is really good and really expensive. They have to bring it in from Dubai or Singapore because the Maldives produces nothing.

Sign up for the excursions. It's all about scuba diving and fishing. It will ruin you for anywhere else. The water is so clear, the weather so perfect and there are no crowds.

7 hr layover going then 4.5 hr returning. Qatar actually just opened an additional new impressive business lounge in Doha (The Al Mourjan Business Lounge – The Garden).

Waldorf Astoria does not use a seaplane. They have a 30 min Yacht ride which I've read is much more pleasant and convenient than the seaplane as you mentioned. They time it to take you to the resort within 30 mins of your arrival (~ $1k/pp rt ).

Don’t sleep on they gym / pool on the third floor near the hotel in the Doha airport …. Great way to relax on long layovers. Flying through Wednesday and have an 8 hour layover, but unfortunately at midnight when it’s closed

Yes round trip. They keep raising it up, pretty ridiculous. Need to budget $500 for our daily meals even with free breakfast. Good thing I've donated a lot of Plasma this year.

That new lounge actually has a gym and spa in it also. I've never been to Doha. They're trying to throw that oil money around (World Cup 2022) to rival Singapore's Changi airport. Been to Changi multiple times and love it.

Did the same trip and stayed at the Conrad Maldives. Qatar Q Suites are amazing and the lounge was nice especially to shower and rest during the layover. Stayed ten nights and would do it again! Amazing snorkeling and diving...just everything is very expensive.

Really enjoyed our QSuites flights and stayed 4 days at the Westin Maldives. Great time but no need to go back.

Flying into Male from Doha:

No seaplane, Just a 40 min yacht ride directly to the Resort after a 15 min wait.

Our Villa:

Our personal pool and outdoor space:

Entire resort, snorkeling from our deck, and the beaches were amazing!

Doha airport and the new Qatar lounge was incredible. Roundtrip Qsuites, I ate 4 lobster thermidors and officially joined the MHC

Overall, probably our best/favorite trip ever (a notch above our Bora Bora trip last year). WA concierge service was unrivaled. Wife wants to go back next year, probably will try the Conrad.

+1

Maldives has been on my radar for a while. What did you spend outside of the first class tickets?

That is one of our dream vacations, please let me know what you paid for the airfare and the hotel

And what type of suite did you guys get? It looks amazing.

…and of course. What do you do for a living to afford those extravagant vacations?

That’s a 45k trip with flights and 7 nights. Not sure how long they stayed or what kind of points, if any, were used.

Now I’m really curious as to what that person does for a living to be able to afford that

Safe to say, his girl is locked in
