quote:

All Power to All People is an eight-foot-tall Afro Pick with a power fist cast in aluminum by American conceptual artist Hank Willis Thomas.

Thomas works primarily with themes related to identity, history, and popular culture.

“This is a celebration of self-love, representation and something that we can all really be proud of,” George Abbott with Memphis River Parks said.

The sculpture will be on display for public viewing until May.

Do you think high class educated African Americans see this as an insult to them?

A freaking hair pick...

Guess I'll load up the family and make the 5.5 hr drive before too long. We can't miss this opportunity.

I thought the same. If it’s construed as a compliment, it’s a backhanded one.

Somewhere in the far future a hair pick will be left on a distant planet as one of our time capsules to represent our great civilization.

How many millions of dollars did they pay for that?

Look at the base, it's plywood cut and screwed together in some haphazard fashion that would earn a 14yo kid a C in wood shop (as long as he didn't cut himself with the saw)

Pretty sure that’s the same one from New Orleans. It travels around to different cities.

It took you more time to type your incorrect statement than google “hair pick New Orleans” and realize they don’t look alike at all. Def not the same one

Lol right? at least have some pride if you’re going to display “art.” Turrible.
