Why do people melt about taunting in sports?

Anybody who’s ever played organized sports knows you want to kick the other team’s arse as much as possible.
Sometimes a situation calls for good sportsmanship, sometimes it doesn’t. As a viewer I really don’t care either way

If athletes shows good sportsmanship, they are often praised for it. So if they do the opposite, why would it shock you that people frown upon it?
You said you don’t care but you start a thread asking why are people melt over taunting? In general, When people are asking for answers, it means they care at some level.

And she did it while the game was technically still on, it wasn't in the postgame handshake or anything.
I could find more if you really want me to. It happens all the time in all sports. I find it very humorous looking at all the melts about this, especially when it's a sport like women's basketball that everyone claims to not care about but suddenly so many sports fans have such strong opinions about this.

It's all about setting a good example for youth sports so kids know to leave the fighting to their parents.

It can just rachet up the game to fighting which is about the only reason to try to hold it in check. Too many people get easily disrespected and then want to fight.

Two of those you linked are directed at fans, not the opponent, and I don't remember a lot of people rushing to defend the taunting of Tyreek Hill like it was some sacred rite of athletic passage like the homers on here are doing. The fact you have to stretch that much to find your first three examples kind of proves my point. Not sure what's so difficult about admitting taunting the loser is low class and deserves to be frowned upon.

Aussie rules is over the top with taunting and bad-natured pushing and shoving but that country was founded by convicts.

This is a stupid take. And in any case, what transpired in that game to justify Reese acting the way she did?
You know what doesn't cost a thing? Honor, class, integrity. Have honor when you win, have honor when you lose. Reese showed none of those. And I'm certainly not condoning what Clark did either.

I remember the Miami Hurricanes in 1992 getting off the plane and showing the press which finger they would put their new championship ring on. Lamar Thomas and his cohorts never shut up that week and by kickoff, BAMA was ready to bury those loudmouths. Which they promptly did.
Immediately after the whistle blew, David Palmer showed Miami players which finger he would wear his ring on. Good times.

Usually it's only praised when it's a response to taunting or the other team being unsportsmanlike.
Looking at Waterlink's examples Tyreek threw the peace up at Winfield during the regular season. Tyreek has thrown it up to multiple dbs on his way to the endzone.
Burrow's was praised because Texas almost always makes an arse of their selves and has shitty fans. Notice almost every team throws horns down when they play Texas.
Reggie's choke taunt has an entire 30 for 30 about it with Spike Lee's antics and trash talk to Reggie.
