In the case of weather in a perfect world both coaches agree to move a start time to the best of their judgement.

The game is scheduled for 7pm on ESPN2. I don’t think LSU nor Arkansas have the authority to move the game prior to the scheduled first pitch because of tv contracts. If the game is affected by rain they’ll be fine Saturday to shift as needed with the game on SECN.

It’s not so much the issue of both teams not wanting to fit the game in that day it’s more so that ESPN2 will not work others schedules.

I do not remember ever seeing a nationally televised game rework their schedule ahead of time…we may be sitting on our hands so to speak that first night.

If only ESPN had a cache of other games already being produced for broadcast that would be going on in that window that could replace the game and allow the programs to make the best decisions for themselves without issue.

If only...

everyone seriously needs to quit freaking out about this. yeah it might rain on friday but no one knows the timing yet and/or if it will affect the game being played. LIKE you said we’ll be sitting on our hands til first pitch and there’s really nothing we can do about it. maybe we get lucky and the game can be played as scheduled

ESPN has to have alternate plans in case we get rained out at 7:00 PM, so they should just let LSU and Arkansas do what’s best to ensure the game is played.

ESPN could always record the game if it’s played at say, 3:00 PM, and just show it on tape delay at the 7:00 PM slot. Old school.

The game is scheduled to be on ESPN2. ESPN is carrying the women's basketball tournament.

Baseball is always tricky to televise
Espn is not worried about weather
If it rains out, they will throw on some repeat 30/30 special and get better ratings than the game itself

They've done it with football games over the years. One would think baseball would be a lot easier.

You mean ESPN can't show the game anywhere but ESPN2 and/or at its allotted time slot? If that's true, they're idiotic. If the teams choose to move the game to 2 pm and ESPN pushes it to ESPN+, they gain subscriptions. If they just force the teams to play at their allotted time or delay to the next day, they gain nothing.

Refresh my memory, if two games are played Saturday doesn't that mean they will only play 7 innings for game 1? Or are both games 7 innings? A 7 inning game favors the team that has Paul Skenes

ESPN cannot switch time for this game, regardless. If it’s rained out they just pick one of the other games in that slot.
