Like what, specifically?

Can you help me understand this more? Are the earnings derived only from the monthly dividend? I’m not familiar with these treasury-based etfs.

Why not just buy treasuries

Because you get more interest from the FRNs.

Those are basically packaged treasuries and are better than CDs.
One word of caution—the interest paid by an ETF is not going to be exempt from Louisiana income tax like buying a treasury would be. You can buy treasuries through your broker and they are very liquid.

I’m about 99% positive that is incorrect.

You are correct in most cases. One needs to be sure the 1099 issued by the ETF states it is income from treasuries as I would suspect they would do.

But the 4.75% you mentioned is specifically from the monthly dividend that my USFR would pay out. Is that right?

This is 100% a false statement for the etfs we are talking about

Just north of 5.5% this week I believe.

How are you determining the 5.x% figure? Yields I’m seeing are around 4.2. I’m clearly missing something obvious.
Posted on 8/18/23 at 8:57 pm to turkish
According to Morningstar the current SEC yield is 5.3%. The 4.25% yield is for the last 12 mo. period. Expense ratio is .15%.
