It's amazing how bad Griff has botched this

We had the top pick and the most valuable trade piece at the time Griff took over and we only have one playoff appearance to show for it... and it only happened because of the new play-in rule that season.
We had all the pieces to construct a legitimate playoff team and the best we can muster is a 9-seed.
This is all on Griff because he thought he was the smartest guy in the room, going against the current NBA paradigm of putting shooters around Zion and instead thought we needed more athleticism around him. We've had a lottery pick every season under Griff, and he's drafted one shooter.

Dark times. I don’t trust him to make the right move this offseason. Hopefully he goes. He probably won’t

You can trade for established shooters (like CJ).
Trading that #4 pick fricked everything up. And people on here defended it for YEARS.

If we picked Neismith instead of Kira, would our team be THAT much different? We drafted a shooter the following year (Trey). Kispert is the only guy who may have been better b/w 10 and Trey's pick, and he's just now starting to do something. Plus we'd still have Steven Adams and wouldn't have CJ.
Griffin fricked up this rebuild in 2 ways
1. Trading the #4 pick
2. Trying to compete too quickly, necessitating established 5s.
The scary part is Griffin was about to bankrupt our team to sign Kyle Lowry or Tim Hardaway Jr., so his ineptitude in free agency actually saved us.

Sure, but you need multiple shooters. He's traded for one. You also need to draft shooters for salary cap purposes.

I mean obviously at some point there is a BPA aspect to this, but it's clear he doesn't value shooting like the rest of the NBA. Look at everyone that was drafted between Hayes and Tyler Herro in 2019.

His job should be on the line, and the thought of him operating under that assumption is terrifying.

I would not put it all on Griff. Pels were a top 4 team at the turn of the calendar. A lot of the blame, particularly for this collapse, lies on the coaching staff for failing to provide front court support at the 4 position. You could see 10 days into the slide Pels were getting coldcoked on the nightly playing Val/Billy and an injured Nance with an undersized 4. Pels could have stayed afloat during this period if they would have adjusted. If your dead-set against playing Hayes go get a big at the deadline instead of another wing.

The only player in the last couple of season I can't get over missing out on is Bane. We traded that pick for Adams.

I can’t get over Bane going as low as he did.

This is the guy that selected Anthony Bennett #1 overall right? To his defense that draft sucked. Giannis (no one could have projected what he’s become) went 15th, CJ was 10th

Griff fits the Benson model great. He’s a slimy used car salesman. They love him. He’s fricking terrible and I’d venture to say a handful of posters on here would’ve done better than him. He squandered all of our assets for shite.

The counter to that is Griff was reportedly the loudest voice in the room championing Bennet as a future superstar.
It would be one thing if Griff reluctantly went along with the pick, but he pushed the franchise into Bennet’s direction and oversold him and his upside.
It’s not enough to hang him for, but then we he doubles down on being cute and trading back from Garland to take another project big with questionable work ethic, claiming Hayes and a guy like Hunter or Garland were indistinguishable on his board, it really blacks his eye as a talent evaluator

Crazy how much griff was praised up until Zion got hurt again. Sucks that we’re losing, but this entire board was saying we have the best young nucleus in basketball not that long ago.

I mean we clearly don't. We have a bunch of young guys that would contribute on other teams, but the way this roster is built doesn't utilize them the best because we have too many guys that are good at the same thing and also bad at the same thing.
