Easy,

First Gayle will not pay two coaches who has been fired

Secondly you cannot have Zion with 4 different coaches in 5 years, optics are bad and Zion will likely want to bolt.

So if we fire WG, we will have to basically do a complete tear down with WG, Zion, and probably Griffin due to Gayle being sick of paying constant fired coaches.

He should be fired for being possibly the most inept offensive coach in the league. He will get another season but if they start slow, I really hope they don't give him a full season to try to correct things.

POS needs to go before anything else.
Then see if the fat 22 year old that has banked over $150 Million in endorsements and salary, despite rarely playing, still has any trade value.

Coach emeritus or some shite like that. In his defense, he's always had a real lead guard to run the show. I've said before both BI and Zion are going to have to get better at off-ball play but you need a point they trust to distribute the ball, take some pressure off them and get them the ball where they can finish a bit more. Zion and BI seem to hardly ever get easy looks.

He probably should be fired but it’s hard to judge him when he hasn’t had his best player. Phil Jackson himself couldn’t get this team to a 6 seed.

If Zion doesn’t play 50 games next year and we don’t even make it to the second round, Willie and Griff are gone

You can fire him but it's going to be bad optics on the organization and they won't be able to get a coach worth a damn to come.

They will blame the season on injuries and will kill the organization for firing an up and coming coach like Green. Yes, he's still looked at favorably in league circles and the media.

Whether you like it or not, he's returning and the only out is by letting his contract expire at the end of next season and go on another direction gracefully.

I know you are right, but I hate this mentality in American sports. Sure it’s not on Willie that Zion and Ingram missed so many games, and no one would be angry if we slipped from 1 to 4 or so, but this is an epic collapse. Willie is demonstrating his incompetence by showing no adjustments to compensate for the extended stretch of no Zion. We are still running isos into packed lanes and rarely running plays to get CJ and Trey catch and shoot shots.

A lot of this is on Griff as well, and I would love to see him relieved of his duties but that is a lot harder to get done. He has done a terrible job constructing a roster, but Willie hasn’t adjusted to try to maximize the strengths of the mishmash of a roster.
