Labrador retrievers ousted as top US dog breed after record 31 years by the French Bulldog

Adorable in some eyes, deplorable in others, the sturdy, push-faced, perky-eared, world-weary-looking and distinctively droll French Bulldog became the nation's most prevalent purebred dog last year, the American Kennel Club announced Wednesday.
Frenchies are low maintenance city-friendly dogs with minimal grooming needs and 'a lot to offer,' Patty Sosa, French Bull Dog Club of America spokesperson, said.
'They're comical, friendly, loving little dogs,' Sosa said.
The pups weren't even a top-75 breed a quarter-century ago but now lead the way with Labrador retrievers, golden retrievers, German shepherds and poodles.
