was at a party last weekend and was talking to the host about his Plex server. He could basically pull up almost any movie/tv show made for free. It was pretty cool.

So I downloaded the Plex App to my Roku Ultra. How do I find movies and tv shows to watch? I guess I need access to other's servers?

Anyone know how to use Plex? It's making me feel like a boomer

He likely has the movies downloaded to his HD. I use this and it works pretty well. Run it on a dedicated PC.

I'll add you to my server if you like. It's pretty massive. What is your Plex username?

It's overwhelming at first but you'll get it - I'm a boomer and have mine setup like our very own Netflix. As others have said, I converted all my physical media to MP4 with Handbrake and use a dedicated PC with 2 4TB external drives for media. You can, as BC suggested, log into other Plex accounts as well though I've never found the need to as I have literally any/everything I want on ours.

>Spare or unused computer
>Install Plex
>Install Sonarr, Radarr and Jackett
>Get IPT invite

Done.

Only annoyance I keep having is Unpackerr being a PITA and not working, so I have to do all zipped package extraction manually

In order to access movies and TV shows on Plex, you'll need access to a server that's hosting media content. Your friend was likely using his own Plex server to access his media library.

To get started with Plex, you'll need to create an account and download the Plex Media Server software onto a computer or network-attached storage (NAS) device. This software will allow you to organize and host your media library and make it available for streaming on other devices, like your Roku Ultra.

Once you've set up your own Plex server, you can connect your Roku Ultra to your Plex account and access your media library from there. You can also connect to other people's Plex servers, but you'll need to be invited to access their content.

To connect to another person's Plex server, you'll need their server address and a username and password if they require authentication. Once you have this information, you can add the server to your Plex account by going to "Settings" > "Manage Servers" > "Add Server" in the Plex app on your Roku Ultra.

Keep in mind that accessing media content without proper licensing or permission may be illegal and could potentially result in legal consequences. Be sure to only access media content that you have the legal right to view.

Whoa I didn't realize this was an old post being bumped.

@bboun, how did you find this thread and why did you sign up only to ask this?
