- Kids third birthday is women empowerment themed
I dgaf about this. This is trivial nit picky shite

quote:

We spent 15 minutes on a meeting Jess is left out of a meeting she “belongs in” because she is a woman. Obviously she got it wrong, but it doesn’t change the narrative prior to that.
It made fun of HER for assuming sexism.

quote:

- Nick Miller, who stands for nothing the entire show, comes out as pro-choice
Why wouldn't a lazy layabout not support the laziest argument in a debate?

quote:

- Jess teaching a three year old that a color and a shape can be called anything it wants (Obvious what that was subliminal messaging for)
It was Montessori teaching, which Jess favors. It is about giving children the tools to learn on their own.

It wasn't coded trans shite. It has been around since, like 1910.

I don't fault you here, not everyone knew about Montessori Education. I only know, because I am an educator.

Winston is basically the only character that didn’t change and he certainly saved the finale.

Winston changed the most of any character on the show.

Coach was the best character, after he left it was all downhill. Even his return later couldn’t save it Honestly don’t remember anything from the series outside of true American

Well that’s just ridiculous. Schmidt and Nick were light years ahead of Coach.

I loved New Girl when we watched it live, I still like it now but there are certain thru lines that get very old very fast on a binge/nightly rewatch. First of all, almost every “funny” scene, they are just yelling at each other. A lot of the time what they’re saying is funny but once you notice they’re just screaming at each other, it’s as bad as having a bing bang theory laugh track. Also, as it has been mentioned, the dumbing down to the point of retardation of Nick and Winston was just tragic. Two all time hilarious characters. Still loved the show but those parts bummed me out on a rewatch.

There is a reason for this. Initially Winston was supposed to be a replacement for Coach after Marlon Wayans left the show sort of unexpectedly due to scheduling conflicts. His background was that he was a basketball player so it is clear he was supposed to be a jock character similar to Coach. Over time as the directors and writers got to know the actor who portrayed Winston they realized his personality and sense of humor lended himself much more towards a goofy character so they began to redevelop his character. In my opinion it worked because Winston was hilarious. Sure they got a little carried away towards the end but that is any sitcom after that many seasons.

Yup. Nick has the best scene though (popcorn machine scene).

I started re-watching it not that long ago, and I’ll finish up shortly before Netflix pulls it on Easter. I watched it as it aired, but now on my rewatch I can really appreciate how hysterical this show is. Season five has been my favorite so far, especially the episodes leading up to the wedding. There’s an episode where they are helping Schmidt write his vows that I laughed from start to finish.
