The idea that bloggers criticizing a politician should register with the government is insane. it is an embarrassment that it is a Republican state legislator in Florida who introduced a bill to that effect. He should withdraw it immediately.

The emphasis is neither on the blogger or the critique. It is on revenue.

He's right that bill is a bunch of nonsense and you know I thought DeSantis was a champion for liberty and freedom but now I'm starting to think his critics are right I mean he's already signed free speech laws threatening penalties if you criticize Israel so frick DeSantis and frick the GOP in Florida.

On what? commenting on who.
Why are you leaving the context out?
It's not about compensation for a comment on a painting. On a car.
It's on an elected official.

perhaps you missed the 'OR WILL' two words in front of your circled section???
If they post about a state official, who determines that they might be compensated one day? Certainly no one in the 5 day time frame required
Had it just said 'AND', your point would have been valid. But it isnt

I do know this is not about limiting or monitoring Jjdoc setting up a website and shitposting. This is about someone getting paid. I suspect the larger context is Florida law re: professional vs uncompensated authorship comes into play. IDK that, but there is obviously more to it than this odd singled out line.

It’s a PR nightmare they needs to be repackaged, explained and possibly dumped as the idea was rolled out terribly.. I’m still not sure what the true idea and end game is at this point

What significance do you attribute to "or will"?
E.g., Hypothetically, an agreement "Decatur will receive 4¢ for every pro-Potatobrain post on this site," would fall under the "or will" premise.

This is an absolutely horrendous look for Desantis. He runs from Trump at CPAC, now from bloggers. He supports this, or he would have had it pulled with the quickness
First he locked down the state during the Chyna flu, now he wants to lock down speech during a presidential run
Swampy

Do newspapers/mainstream journalists have to register with the state?

Wait, you want to give him credit for the Fla legislature taking on Disney and grooming in schools, but the same legislature that wrote this, he has no connection to?

God damn, you're desperate.

This is proposed by a state Senator and hasn't even been taken up for debate.
