Classical liberalism's major design flaw

In the West we extend classical liberal ideals to all kinds of bad actors that exploit those vulnerabilities and use them against us.
- Islam
- Leftists
- Foreign governments like CCP that buy land here while not even allowing land to be bought there
- Illegal immigrants and legal immigrants who do not assimilate
In the annals of history, we will not be looked at as an enlightened society. We will be looked at as extremely gullible and naive for giving enemies easy access and our full support to topple us

It’s hard to be a proponent of individual aspects of classical liberalism, while living under a system built on big government, entitlements and other collectivist attributes.
You may be for unfettered immigration. But you can’t hold that belief in a welfare state.
You may be for justice and prison reform. But that’s difficult when violent crimes are not being prosecuted and criminals are allowed to walk among us.
There are many such examples.

I think you have to separate the People from the government here.

Freedom combined with low or no moral character isn't a good combination.
But if you had a Christian nation where people self-governed internally, you can have a small minimalist government whose main focus is the common defense of the nation.
That was the original model. It doesn't work well without the Christian part that has been waning over the decades.

All of this has happened with the blessing of TPTB. Nothing happens by accident. You think the border being wide open is a mistake? No! The people who are really is charge want unfettered illegal immigration and both sides of the aisle are onboard
Our overlords want a system of govt like China where the party is always right, our betters decide what’s best for us, and the plebes STFU and do as they are told or be disappeared

The question is should you retain the ideals found in the first sentence, and try to fix the problems reflected in the second or, instead, do you accept the latter and discard the former.

The major flaw was known when the USA started - it was that it would only work for a moral people.

So 'classical liberalism' doesn't really work outside of a very narrow spectrum. This classical liberalism didn't prevent the biggest most, destructive war of the 19th century.
Good idea for worldwide export, am I right?

Therein lies the rub.
I think it’s too late. There’s nothing individuals can do. The machine is too big, and too many people are drunk on free government money and entitlements.
