Do you need more than a passport card for a quick cruise to the Bahamas?

My niece is taking a quick trip down there in a few months and I don’t see where she needs a book. The card should work for a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas right? Am I missing something?

No. You don't even need a passport card but that will suffice for cruising.

If the cruise originates and ends at the same port in the US, most of the time, ID and birth certificate will do depending on the port of calls.

depends if it is a closed or open looped cruise, if closed (same depart/return port) no passport is needed

Honestly it's dumb to go through the hassle of getting a passport and then only get the card. You should get the book and the card or just the book.
It is good for ten years. Though you only need a birth certificate for a cruse. Though having a passport makes disembarkation way faster in the US.

Just went through this. Need only a valid ID and a photocopy of birth certificate.
Passport is very helpful on the extremely rare occasion of having to return home because you missed the ship/sick/injured etc.

I have both. If I’m in a civilized country and not going too far from my hotel I keep my PC in my wallet and leave my PB in the room.
