I see nothing wrong. He is 100% correct and understands home life has a huge effect on a person and how they act or respond to situations.
Sad thing is if a white coach said this, he would be eviscerated

No he won’t be terrible
But he won’t be winning the conference in his first 1-2 years there

He won me o er for sure - everything I've seen from him is almost too perfect.

Players from broken homes are only coveted because black athletes are superior and many come from such homes. If everyone had the same physical talent, few players from that background would be in the NFL. You would have a bunch of coach’s sons playing, overachieving walk-on types, etc.
Most black kids from the hood aren’t exactly overachievers, even in sports. They just have ability.

Man I've come around on Deion big time. My perception was he just wanted to be out front and it was all about him and branding himself. While some of that may be true, he speaks the truth and doesn't care about how other people feel about it.
He wants character and I believe he is trying to build men.

Same. He seems to get it and how to connect w/this generation.
Most people get it. They just can't come out and say it because "racist". Deion can get away with it bc he's black.

Were there any stereotype comparisons about family life that Neon Deon happened to leave out? This is right up there with Franklin at Vandy not wanting to hire an assistant coach who married an ugly woman. He felt that that coach lacked confidence.
Yeah, a lot of these guys aren't getting hired for their common sense.

I’d say that most of the “prestigious jobs” in America are held by people who come from dual parent households. Or at the least dual parent contribution.
There is a value in a family and that value goes far further than being able to always have someone drop the kid off and pick the kid up from school.
A kid with a good mother and father learn how to treat others. They learn skills that aren’t taught in school.
This is not new information.
I’m just glad Deion shined the light on it.

He said he wanted his DL to be raised in a single-parent family.

He isnt wrong but he is privileged to make this statement.
if a white coach said this, they would be dogged in the media

He is wrong.
It’s not the single parent household that creates the bad arse 3 technique. It’s the genetics.
Ability being equal, give me the player (at any position) from a stable household over the one from a broken family that’s poor and absent a strong father figure any day of the frickin’ week.
ETA: I coached 20 years and (in general) the best kids to coach from an intangibles standpoint are farm kids. At one school we had a summer workout session at 5:00 AM so those kids could work on the farm in the Alabama heat all day.
Some kids in the hood might be bigger, faster, and stronger than those guys - thanks to genetics - but they are not tougher and more driven.
And the hood kid is also a lot more likely to frick up and get in trouble. There’s too many outlets to success today for professional sports to be seen as the only path to a good life for a kid who has his head on straight.

okay so lets agree to disagree. thats fine.
he still is privileged to make this statement, even more so if he is in fact wrong. He will face no repercussions. Nor should he or anyone from stating an observation but lets not act like a young white coach could make this comment.

Shaq's father is Phil Harrison. Go ask him.
Wasn't the Sergeant Shaq's stepfather? I think the poster meant biological father.
Added: I was right. Joseph Toney is Shaq's biological father. Harrison forbade Shaq from having anything to do with his biological father until his dying day. Shaq finally met Toney last year in Newark, NJ.
