It's such a crazy time, a guard was called the dirtiest player for mostly alleged cheap shots against defensive guys (like Merlin Olsen) who openly tried to end careers

That’s what I remember about him.

Defensive linemen back in the late 60s and 70s were almost a protected class who couldn't do wrong and they were media darlings.
Look how many of them were either either became faces of the game or got huge media/Hollywood jobs.
Merlin Olson, Joe Green, Deacon Jones, Bubba Smith, Alex Karras, etc, etc.
I think they were considered far more "freaks of nature" to be that big and that athletic back then as opposed to now, and the media ate them up.

He and Dierdorf made the Cardiac Cards of the mid 70’s go and should’ve lasted a little longer than it did:

Bob Young was on that line, too. One year they only gave up 9 or 10 sacks(14 game season)

Forgot about him. If only Bowtie knew how to run an NFL team

The Mad Stork, LB / DE of the old Oakland Raiders' days, said he learned how to "freeze" his forearm pads pre game, making it almost a leathel weapon, from Dobler. According to the S.I. article, Dobler was at his worst in dog piles, eyes in particular were a favorite target.

Did he throw his helmet into the stands one game?

Keep your fingers from inside his facemask.

There's a name I haven't heard in a while.
