I tuned in at the correct time and channel, but they showed some other show instead

it had a story, plot, and events that happened in sequential order. It was coherent and easy to follow, and the story was interesting. It had a beginning, a middle and an end. Some of the actors appeared to be familiar from this other NBC show I used to watch, but I couldnt place them.

any idea what this show was?

Agreed, it was a nice change to see things make sense within its 60 minute period, as opposed to three months later.

The eclipse thing is going to be interesting.

Whoa. Slow down there. They still jumped around the timeline.

what exactly is mrs. petrelli's power ? What is mr. petrelli's power(that he was using, not how he can take them away)? I have been waiting to see the significance of the eclipse (opening sequence/main symbol)

She is like an oracle. She can see the future.

Which one? His power is he can take and use others powers permanently and understand them. Think Rogue but with the power robbing being permanent.

Peter has this power but he just has to be around the person, not touch them. For some reason, however, he didn't rob his dad of all his absorbed powers and therefore accidently and preemptively cancel out his father's power robbing on him.

Too many plot holes there. Peter is theoretically the strongest. I guess they made him an idiot to cancel it out.

He doesn't steal their powers, just is able to use them. And it takes him a while to get them under control. IE first season he had to learn how to do the invisble man and flying power.

So he might have had the power, just didn't know what to do with it.

That was rectified in this season. He got Sylar's power. Now, he should understand them as soon as he gets them (when he get's his powers back).

So many of Peter's powers go unused.. When was the last time he flew or became invisible? Seems he only uses time travel, the blue fire and the ability to throw stuff.

He became invisible in the episode his father took all his powers away.

I'm a little confused about what's going on with Hiro.

Hiro vowed to never travel to the past again (a few episodes before he...traveled in the past again). So he asked to be put in a dream state to see the past so he would not affect it.

Then, when he awoke, DADDY P came to collect!!!

Peter's character is the perfect example of what NOT to do when writing a story. He was my favorite character and is still up there, but they made him too powerful too fast. That is why his powers keep having to be "written off" in some form.

Every hero has a tragic flaw or weakness. Sylar's is the hunger to be special, Nathan's is the hunger for political power, Peter's is stupidity.

Yeah, thanks, I got most of that part, I'm just not sure what he's trying to do. I know they'll tie everything together soon, it's just a little confusing right now.

He went into a dream sleep to:

1. See the past without time traveling and messing the future up
2. Figure out who was behind the villians and how to defeat them.

You finally have a strong villain figure again that makes you wonder if the good guys can actually pull this one out. Season 1 had Sylar. Season 2 had a fairly weak villain by committee.

I agree though it would be epic coolness if they got Clint Eastwood to play Pappa Petrelli.

I think the show is on the wrong night.

Other than that I really like it.

Just watched this episode this morning (god I love DVR).

I thought the second season was a mistake.

The third has been much better, but terminator is the best show on Mondays.

Chuck is.

Here's another thought to throw out there...

Peter absorbs powers he is close to. Why didn't he take on his mother's powers and see what was about to happen to him when he met his father?
