They bring back Bob Iger and they start cutting the fluff (job cuts) and reinstate the div. Thinking i should have bought a few more shares when it tanked last year.

I think every level minded investor expected Disney to eventually reinstate the dividend. Did anyone really expect it to be gone permanently?

They’ll reinstate a dividend, but it’s not going to sniff their previous distribution due to their cash flow concerns.

I read that they plan to make it a modest dividend.

Under Chapek, yes. The fact that Iger realizes how important even a modest dividend is to ordinary Disney investors is telling of how bad Chapek was for Disney. Disney is on the way to $130. The next significant thing for Disney is a proper succession plan.

I know I am going to get downvoted to oblivion
, but GameStop $GME will be bringing back their dividends this year.
It is a given that they will issue an nft dividend, but they will also probably bring back their cash divs, too.
The cool thing is that the the 80+million shares that are locked away in ComputerShare will likely nearly all instantly buy more registered shares.
Regardless of what you all think or say about the little gaming store, things are spicy with them.

I figured that since it was about a company returning to issuing dividends, then it might interest some to know about other companies returning to the dividend table.
The nft dividend is a theoretical way to force shorters to close out their positions. Overstock did something similar with crypto currency and got sued, but there is hope that gamestop with their new nft.gamestop.com marketplace will be able to justify the nft dividend and avoid legal issues.

Hedge fund billionaire, Nelson Peltz led a proxy fight to force Iger to do these things. Go Woke cut jobs.

Disney picked a fight with the Gov. of FL. They wanted teachers to be able to groom and recruit children. It is going through two courts now.
Bob Iger is trying to litigate it in the press. The substantial press Disney owns is bashing Desantis like he is Trump.
Yesterday, their financials showed that Disney + lost millions of subscribers due to the woke. Iger went on a Desantis rant during the conference call and the stock is down over 8% today.

Disney got out over their skis - it is amazing how magical their parks and media can be for kids and families….but……A woke culture and getting outside their area of expertise with steaming will negatively impact DIS for years.
Most paying customers don’t want DIS’s alphabet soup ideology pushed down the throats of children.
Trans is a mental illness and should be treated accordingly - not forced on our youth by corporations or trans library kids day events.

I had read that a second set of investors was suing the board over playing the woke game instead of churning out money. I hope they don't back down. These clowns need to understand what their fiduciary responsibility is.
Get back to dancing with the girl you came with.

quote:The problem is DeSantis wants to be Trump. He picked the fight, not Disney. He made it personal. Disney is the largest employer in the state and he did not like that they disagreed with his tactics. DeSantis may think he is being the tough guy, but he ruined any chance he had at becoming president with his childish antics.

Wrong. He was signing a bill the legislature passed. It was aboot protecting children from predators, and Disney attacked him. That is how it started. The bill was aboot schools, not Disney. The groomers have said a million times that he started it, but it is historical record. Disney started it.

quote:Disney disagreed with the bill. He made it personal and very unprofessional, to the point of threatening to put tolls on all roads leading to Disney. He is a TERRIBLE businessman and leader (and that is a maddive understatement). He made it about him instead of the good of the state he represents. He is a child.

This Disney fiasco is ruining any chance at a Presidential run. It's been a disaster for him. All good since Trump will be the nomination. Anyway, too much politics for this board

Good, you are now agreeing that Disney picked the fight, by attacking a law designed to protect children.

Correct. Their forcing the gay agenda into their movies is killing my DIS stock. This agenda is directly oppositional to what their core consumers want.

BS!
They absolutely went political over that Bill.
I sold ALL of my Disney over that. And it looks like I came out WAY ahead!
