If there is no investment growth factored in you're probably correct. Now take $3-4 million multiplied by .0765 x 2. Imagine that money earning 4-5% over a +40 year period.....you're looking at well over a $1 million.

I've been pushed back already and I have delayed taking it on my own. The problem is that I've paid into it and my employer has paid into since I was 18 years old. I would have loved to have had that money in a 401 K plan instead. But the ponzi scheme wouldn't allow it. Yes I have my IRA but these bastards took my money for YEARS and now people are suggesting it be given to some fukcer that sneaked across the border or didn't do shite in order to make the scheme work? If we had billions to send to Ukraine, then we sure as hell can find money to pay out SS.
If I were 21 I would hope they would end it for the young and instead put it in IRA accounts. 12.4% in an IRA sounds pretty damn good.

Everything the federal government touches turns into a desiccated terd.
The dems use SS and medicaide/medicare as an axe handle against the middle and poor classes of this country.
"Want to keep your SS benefits ? Then you have to vote for this ." Phuck them.
End these programs and give the money that people paid into them back to them.

Those Dems/Liberals/Socialists/Communists in this thread can kindly leave this country at your earliest convenience and help clean up America in that regard.
Otherwise, stop being whiny little bitches and man up for once in your miserable life.

Wow! If DavidTheGnome could convert downvotes to cash he'd be rich!
Here's my contribution to your idiocy!

So, let's talk illegals here. When they start driving, who's going to pay for their insurance? This damned corrupt Democrat administration lets 'em in by the millions and we have to pick up the tab for 'em.
Maybe DavidTheGnome will host a few illegals at his home being a left wingnut that he seems to be.

Getting downvoted by all those fiscal conservatives
You're getting downvoted because social security is bullshite and it needs to be gone. As does medicare/aid. You're getting downvoted because you're a fricking idiot. You're getting downvoted because fiscal conservatives never wanted social security in the first place.
You dumb bitch.

Federal spending is the #1 problem.
I would still argue that SS and MCR were designed when the population wasn’t living as long as it is now. The demographic changes will eventually sink us all if we don’t change eligibility requirements, starting with pushing back eligibility age over time.

Correct. And it we're forced into it we damn sure don't want "means testing." I'm not sure how stupid you have to be to think that's conservative.

I don't disagree about not wanting it, although y'all all seem to be really worked up about anybody touching it. Doesn't seem like you don't want it to me.
But with typical boomer mentality were left with "they promised me! No means test I don't care if nobody else gets theirs so long as I get mine! Even if they need it and I don't!"

Look, I don't care if "from each according to his means" is your philosophy for government. My issue is your misguided attempt to paint that as conservative. If you think boomers are the only ones who don't want to punish those who prepare and work then an actual concrete garden gnome might give more intelligent responses.

I’m not a boomer. But what an insulting attitude. Old people want the benefit of the monies confiscated from them their entire working lives and you mock them for it? What an entitled punk.

Agreed. I wish the political capital was spent cutting spending rather than cutting taxes. As a result all we did was put more on our kids credit cards.

Tax receipts were/are at all-time highs with the tax cuts. Get yourself a new talking point.

The intent of social security was to be a safety net aka insurance, not a retirement plan. How is what I said incorrect

And they'd rather sink the program for all those that are currently paying in but have a ways to go before retirement instead of implementing reform, because they paid in and want their money back for this insurance policy.

Where did you get this? This is not what Roosevelt said at all.

Kill off Medicaid and welfare for the younger, capable people and someone might agree with you.
No person mentally or physically fit should receive welfare.
