What authority does a governor have as commander and chief of his state’s national guard. In theory, could a state shoot that thing down?

Apparnetly it's still too high, like 100k feet, our fighters can climb to like 60k ish (I think? Somebody in the miliary correct me if I'm wrong).

Biden needs to get on the horn, tell Xi to get the balloon out of our airspace, and then we go on with our normal lives.

Why doesn’t a landowner just send up another balloon strapped with a pipe bomb to eliminate it.

Does the National Guard have the weaponry to shoot something down @ 66,000 feet? I really don't know.

Let it drift this way to Texas. We’ll take care of it

I say it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission.
That being said, if a governor does want to shoot this thing down, just make sure it isn't over any federal land.

Just heard the dumb fricks have been watching this balloon for days. Just let it float on in here. Our military and defense network is a clown show. Vastly overfunded for the product received.

Imagine going through all the trouble and finances of sending this thing to spy on cows in Montana.
