Defense is literally the only thing Allen gets any benefit of the doubt on from me, so no issue with this at all.

Dude get Payton's nuts out of your mouth. All the draft picks waisted, the trade ups for defensive IR players like Davenport, being over the cap until my grandkids are even a thought, the quarterback guru never actually developing a fricking quarterback.

Besides the one Superbowl how was this better than the him Mora years?

Worse draft position, than you Payton maybe you could've have drafted mahommes, at least with Mora I didn't waste numerous Sundays because I knew they weren't going to make the playoffs.

You people, you and half the posters, don't know what it is to be a saints fan, y'all are Payton fans

I mean what’s the use of having good coaches on staff if you plan on tanking.

But the team will hire one defensive coordinator, a defensive line coach and a secondary coach, per sources.

So just a couple of guys

But I also think that the secondary got hung out to dry too much.

Yeah the lack of pass rush definitely harmed them. Why it's weird when people are melting about losing Nielsen, who had two young 1st rders he got nothing out of.

Worst case scenario for DA is he gets bad replacements, we suck worse, and they all get fired. Which is best case for all of us.

I get you guys are over emotional but come on. Even without 2009 Sean Payton still posted a 63% win percentage, had 6 playoff wins, won the division 6 times, made the playoffs 9 times a Not to mention you can’t say “besides the Super Bowl.” That’s literally the pentacle. Mora won the division once, never won a playoff game, only made it 4 times, etc etc.

What a stupid statement.

the only functional part of the team was defense, so they jettison everyone on that side.

Defense was dead last in ppg in the middle of the year. Sacks were non existent the beginning of the season when the front 7 was completely healthy. They only started looking good once we started playing backup QBs and games in horrible weather.

We just need to draft the best 3rd round graded DE in the first round and everything will be fine.

Go look at the QBs we went against towards the end of the year, rookie from AtL, rookie from Pitt, Darnold who lost the starting job to Baker, Watson in horrible weather in one of his first games back, the Rams backup, an end of year washed up Brady, Hurts backup Minshew, the defense looking competent st the end of the year was fools gold….

We played like 6-7 teams against QBs that didn’t start week one on those teams.

This is what we want to get him out and get Caleb Williams.

We need to accept that if we get the ‘24 No 1 pick, Caleb Williams can and will force a trade to another team. It will be the Elway and Eli Manning saga to avoid NOLA.

Right.

that was the story of the league this year though.

The year of the backup QB.

So what?

The two co-DC were not ay callers, Allen was, they just were paid as DC to keep them on staff last yr, both were just position coaches so DLine and Secondary did have issues last yr

This is ridiculous. Some people need to stop being so emotional. Thinking with your emotions usually causes you to say some pretty stupid shite.

After week 7, think we were giving up over 30 ppg.
Not sure how anyone can say the defense was great this year when you were at the bottom around the midpoint of the year.

It’s clear to me, Payton carried this franchise. The amount of stupid things done in one season since he left has surpassed the 15 seasons prior. It’s just embarrassing at this point. I used to think Loomis knew what he was doing but seems like he just got lucky with Payton.

frick off with this. Sean stroking Drew’s ego is what got us here. The only other player he ever developed at QB was Hill.

Payton did what was best for him and bailed on his own sinking ship before it could tarnish his reputation. frick that dude.
