Galveston gets their first offshore casino
In the 80s, a casino ship was looking at Cameron, La., and would have been the first gambling operation on the Gulf Coast. A local lawsuit ruled that the casino could not possess its gambling devices in Louisiana waters (even if turned off). So, the venture moved onto Galveston, where they met resistance again.

Next thing you know, gambling shows up on the Biloxi coast in Mississippi.

The partners of the initial test at Cameron changed, and I didn't keep up with any of it that closely. But, I always wondered if there was a connection between these explorations because someone was obviously shopping the opportunity. Louisiana and Texas passed at the chance.

Now you know, "the rest of the story."

I can think of any number of countries that would throw their soldiers onto that carrier without giving a single frick.

Imagine how many worm buckets could be served on that if they could anchor it in the Tickfaw at the Prop Stop?

You can buy those things for like 1 dollar at auction because it costs so much to move it around and scrap it.

Honestly, buying one and making it into a casino/hotel on the beach would be a cool arse idea

I knew the beginnings of the story on the GLS side and one of the individuals interested in the idea. I do not believe the same parties were involved with both the LA & TX ventures.

Wouldn’t sinking it take care of the asbestos problem?

Thank you, sir. The whole thing always had a John Grisham-type feel to it. I'd truly love to know "the rest of the story."

Hold up, we can use that thing here in Beirut Rouge as a I-10 ferry across the Mississippi River when the dreaded widen construction begins. We can put a lot of cars in that thing.
We can name it the DOTD ' Shawn Wilson'.
