I mean to be fair, people have complained about the plan to reduce the bridge approach to 1 lane since it was announced. This is pretty clearly a direct response to that criticism from the public - a way to keep it at 2 lanes going to the bridge.

The fact that DOTD thought choking I-10 down to one lane in each direction in an already notorious bottleneck was a good idea just shows the incompetence of that organization.

Not adding a lane to the finished product. Adding a lane to the current westbound flyover during construction to keep I-10 west the same 2 lanes it currently is now.

The biggest issue with this project is they're widening I-10 to where it should have been in 1990. It doesn't go far enough to solve the issue.

The eastbound ramp that exits at Washington St isn't being widened at all. It's just going to be 2 continuous lanes now that don't have an exit only at Washington St. It needs to be 3 continuous lanes over the ramp to keep traffic flowing off of the bridge.
