I was also nearly fired and spent almost eight months in limbo trying to figure out if I could keep my job with (major international consultancy). I eventually left last year because I didn't trust them, based on their totally horse shite response to me asking for exemptions, etc. I was "interviewed" by a third party for some weird purpose, which went nowhere, and then they just gave up.
