Difference is;
Stoops is the one who built that OU program. In 10 years he has one of the highest win percentages of all of College Football.

Miles came into a program already built. All he had/has to do is not get it down. Lets look at the Miles' career vs Stoops and compare.

And you are crazy if you think recruiting is harder at Oklahoma than it is at LSU.

Ummm do you understand how hard it is to keep Oklahoma recruits in their state. How hard it is going against TTech, UT, OSU, TA&M, Nebraska.
LSU has a much easier chance to land in state kids.

Think about this: When Coach Miles cut Ryan Perriloux, he knew what was behind him. Yet, he did it anyway for the sake of the program. Few coaches with a top 5 team would have done that. If he had kept RP, LSU would likely be 8-1 right now and would be in the top 5 and in serious discussion for a return to the BCS Title game. Instead, he does the right thing. I respect that.

I-59, I did not mean built the entire OU program. I meant that Stoops built the program to his way. Miles is still running on the fumes of Saban.

And no I am not a Miles hater. I have met the guy a couple times and he is a great guy. I do not think he is a great choach though. Hell he doesnt even have knowledge on one side of the ball. All he brings is his o-line experience. He has no offensive and no defensive mind and this is showing this year.

As disappointed as I a am in losing to Alabama, and as much as I question some of yesterday's play calling, I want NO ONE other than Les Miles coaching this football team.....

I can't help but think that the people dissing miles right now are all really young.....you don't know what its like to have a true dumbass as a coach.....we've seen it legitimately in our lifetimes, and man, it sucks......

you don't know what its like to have to read the paper every day of the summer trying to figure out who got into what kind of trouble/kicked off the team.......

most of all, you don't know what its like going into a season or a game KNOWING you're probably going to lose....that's the single greatest thing Miles has done in my opinion....he's assembled a staff - a group of players - a program for that matter, that is feared on the national level every single saturday......Alabama was number 1 yesterday, and we were 15, and I felt like we were going to win the game until the clock said game over....

Alabama won the game Saturday because they had the fortune of having an extremely well coached team with a senior quarterback playing at his peak pitted against a team with an inexperienced, struggling qb right now.....think about that....the number 1 team in the country should have lost that game to a team with a completely shakey qb.....in the SEC.....Miles is doing something right.....

There are a ton of reasons why Alabama is 1 for however many they are against LSU recently.....One of those reasons is Les Miles....

Miles has proven that
1. he can win the big one....
2. can assemble talent in players...
3. can assemble talent in coaches....
4. sack up....

This has, imo, been his worst year in terms of certain calls he's made (co dc's, underutilizing scott, etc).....but that said, I'd go to war with Miles over ANY current coach in the country, including Saban - mainly because when times are really really good (as opposed to just good like right now), you don't have to worry about him taking an ego stroke from some NFL team, etc....

1. With more talented players than the other team. When the talent is level, he loses. Saban had the talent laid for him, he won with them.
2. Assemble talent in players? What are you trying to say here? He gets the most talent out his players? How about Danny McCray, he must really suck if Miles is getting all he can out of him.
3. And then goes the stubborn, loyal way instead of what was better for the team in hiring from within for DC's. I can see hiring from within if you have any knowledge of defense. Miles doesnt and it is showing big time now. He has no clue what the hell is going on defense. What is worse is it is the same way on offense.
4. And get super lucky when Byrd made that catch vs Auburn on what would have gone down as the dumbest play ever up there with Mark Ritch and the second down run vs Auburn with 10 seconds left at the goaline with 0 timeouts.

Miles is an excellent coach and yes he can win the big one’s (’07 BCS. Ta-da!). And he recruits well. My few concerns: 1) Commit to putting our best players on the field more of the time. 2) Can assistants who don’t produce. His first loyalty simply has to be to LSU. Otherwise, his loyalty to whatever else will bring the whole program down. , 3) Get a vision of dominance on defense (I think he think Pelini’s D’s were great). Just haven’t seen any urgency from him on making the defense dominant.

You mean head to head? I'm pretty sure Stoops went 2-2 against him with "North Carolina".

You're right. Dumb guys get hired to coach major D-1 programs all the time.

Seriously, thats just stupid.

If you think all D-1 coaches are intelligent, you are the dumbass. Good Lord man. These are P.E. students.

So when LSU recruits, it doesn't compete against other schools, just like Oklahoma? Do you think TTech, UT, OSU, TA&M, and Nebraska don't try to recruit kids from Louisiana? What about all the other schools in the SEC?

Miles beat Stoops down twice when he was at Oklahoma State. Then, when LSU hired him, Miles stole Stoops' DC Pelini away from him.

In 2005, Stoops came into a program already built, right? A program that Stoops built himself, right?

In 2005, Miles came into a program that was already built as well, right?

Being that, in 2005, Stoops was taking over a program that he himself had built, while Miles had to take over a program someone else built, Stoops had the advantage over Miles, right?

Yet, like I showed above, Miles did better than Stoops from 2005-2007 (to add to that: during 2005-2007, Miles win pct was 85.0%, while Stoops win pct was 75.0%).

Relax. Miles owns Stoops.

He is the best coach we have ever had.
Highest winning %
Best Bowl Record 3-0
NC in third year

The problem for a lot of fair weather fans is we can't win the NC every year, so this year is a disappointment to them. Even though we knew before the season started that we would not be in the running for the NC this year. I can remember when we were happy to get an invite to Shreveport to play Norte Dame.

Let me first say I like Coach Miles, however IMO Coach Miles did cave into the anti-RP frenzy.
