I would advise Burrow to not take up all the Bengals’ cap space

Clearly, they need help elsewhere and more urgently. DB would be a position they need big time. I know they were down 3 OL, and they got better as the year went on, but they still need help there.
Hopefully Burrow doesn’t tie up the franchise with a massive contract that screws the franchise.

He should work for free

He can come take up some Ravens cap space if he would like.

They probably win this game with a healthy OL.

He’s a top 3 QB
Going rate for that is a Mahomes/Allen contract
That’s just the way it goes

Needs to be smart and go the Tom Brady 2.0 route. He’ll still make plenty but keep a team around him.

He needs to get the max he can and forget about cap space. He won’t survive in Cincy so why give them a break. frick em.

For the most part an NFL team can manipulate the cap if they really want to

Negotiate a one year deal so they can get him an O Line that won't get him killed...If they can't protect him, he should look to go somewhere else.

He’s not taking a discount on his big money contract and he shouldn’t. The second contract is where players make their serious money

And yet why do I believe that all Burrow and his agent can see is that new salary cap limit?

He has 10-15 years to make as much money as possible.
It's hard to find an all-pro at every position unit. San Fran has done it and they've got shite to show for it. He isn't guaranteeing anything by taking less money. He needs to be paid what the market dictates and then decide in 10 years if he wants to take a paycut for a run at a super bowl if he doesn't have one yet.
Imagine your boss sending you an email and asking you to take a pay cut. He says a few of your subordinates have offers from another company to leave but your company doesn't want to lose them, but they can only pay them enough to keep them if you take a paycut. Sounds dumb as shite doesn't it. Well football is a job for these guys
The chiefs have won a super bowl with a mid defense and are playing for another one with a mid defense and a WR corps consisting of MVS and Kadarius Toney and a group of tier 3 running backs. The Bengals have a top 5 roster in the league and haven't won a super bowl with it. Same with the Bills. It's hard to do. If I'm Burrow i'm taking the money and trusting my ability to will them to a superbowl. Brady did it. Rodgers did it.
