I am a beginner, I've been to the course twice. I am not looking to spend an arm and a leg on balls, since they have a good chance of getting lost due to errant shots. Which balls do you prefer, & why? Also, I sometimes have trouble tracking, which causes me to raise my head, which helps cause the errant shots. Anyone use colored balls? Do you prefer yellow, orange, blue? Any easier to track than others? Currently looking at the yellow Top Flite & TaylorMade at Dicks (I have a gift card I'm trying to finish using.

If you want a decent ball at a good price, try the Wilson Duo Soft. They are under $25 a dozen and come in different colors.

Srixon Soft Feel is a decent ball at an affordable price point if you are just starting out. They are available in a variety of colors as well.

I think Dicks carries some fairly inexpensive maxfli golf balls.

Wilson has some low priced options.

Never blue. All jokes aside, yellow/green and white are the only two really acceptable ball colors if you don't want to look like you just walked off the putt putt course.

Ended up ordering some of the Top Flite XL distance personalized and the Srixon soft feel personalized. Both in yellow.

Play with some older guys.

We all have 500+ golf balls in our trunks and garages.
Maybe they would give you a dozen or 2.
Or sell them to you at $5 a dozen.

I gave a dozen proVs to a high school kid the other day.
I play with some, but mostly give them away.

I find more than I lose. I give away more than I keep. Still have a garage full. Many of these balls I find just off the fairway. I guess with the leaves people don’t see them.

OP, lgo to Jerry’s Golf Outlet or lost golf balls.com and buy 4A used balls. You can stock up on quality balls for cheap.

Rather than a particular OEM, I’d suggest a 3 piece ball with urethane cover. This will help greatly with holding greens when chipping.

I think both of those sites sell Srixon Z-Stars for cheap and that’s a damn good ball.

Red balls are much MUCH harder to find than white. Orange is a tad better but from a color perspective the yellow is easier to find than orange and orange is easier than red.

I am convinced that a leaf camo ball would be easier to find than red.

Pink lady if you can find em. In all seriousness beginners with low swing speeds and crap contact mostly could benefit using a woman's ball. They really squish off the driver and are buttery soft. Opposites of rock like pinnacles, top flite, maxfli etc. Bridgestone are tough as hell too

Great ball to start off with. I played with those for a long time because they were cheap.

Titleist TruFeel is another great option at that price range. Haven’t played with those much but it is a decent budget ball. Titleist had a ball before the TruFeel a few years in that lower price range but I can’t remember the name (don’t make them anymore). That was one of my favorite balls to play.

Academy just had ChromeSoft practice balls on sale for 16.99/dozen. I think you get a mix of the different ChromeSofts and there might be some blemishes. I am not that good, so it seemed like a good deal to me for a urethane ball. I usually play Kirklands which are about the same price, but you buy 2 dozen at a time.
