We cared in the 50s and 60s.

You’d think with all the studies already done- on the same geography over all these years, they’d fricking know about “settling”.

How does this work? Will guys in bell helmets be needed?

Well yeah. Gotta make sure that low mobility grouting doesn’t affect earth worms, ground water, etc. etc. etc.
Should only take a year to complete the study and then the clock for the “ten months” will start.

Only LA1 bridge under construction I care about is Golden Meadow to Leeville baw
When will that be completed? It seems like I never see active construction.

How in God’s name did the country build infrastructure in the 50s and 60s without problems that has lasted decades, but we can’t properly drive some damn pilings today?
(Thanks ccard257!)

Saw this weekend that it’s started recently. When is it supposed to be finished.
July 2027. So a while. You can see the work coming along in Golden Meadow.
They then want to build a twin bridge next to the whole span from Golden Meadow to Fourchon and make it 4 lanes but that’s probably a lifetime away.
They also want to extend 4 lanes of 3235 from Larose up to highway 90. So that it would be 4 lanes from highway 90 all the way to Fourchon. That would be nice as shite when it’s done but that’s decades away.

Current cops grandkids are gonna feast on speeders.

This is what happens when the Diversity, Inclusion and Equity HR people get involved with hires and projects.
How many millions are we paying for this? Someone needs to be fired.

I don't remember if the next goal of LA 1 is for the extension of 3235 to US 90 or the twin bridge to Fourchon.
I think connecting 3235 to US90/Future 49 is more important. The only issue with extending 3235 is how do you do it. DOTD left the room for a future bridge in Larose on the LA 1 side, but it does seem counter intutitive when you cross the Intracoastal then you have to build a second high level crossing over the Company Canal or Bayou Lafourche. An over pass like that will cost in the hundreds of millions to build.
One idea I heard floated was to build a twin overpass on the 308 side over the Intracoastal and use the abandoned railroad track rightaway to get to 90 quicker.
Heck I would take a nice straight 2 lane road with a decent shoulder and future rightaway for a 4 lane like 3127 between Larose and 90.
Some of those curves make me feel like I am driving in a video game. My favorite is on 308 near Lockport where their is an old bridge that has its guard rail constantly getting hit by 18 wheelers.

you surprised new bridges are failing with this guy in charge?
Posted on 1/26/23 at 6:44 am to lnomm34
I am still shocked its actually getting done.

I don’t know what this guy is fixing but that bridge in Lockport that always has the guard rail taken out was fixed with a barricade and a few cones warning you there is no rail.
There is a bridge in Cocodrie that was or still is down to one lane. DOTD’s fix, put up a temporary side wall so a truck doesn’t finish breaking that side of the bridge and a temporary stop light to make the bridge one lane traffic.
The same thing with a bridge on 182 in Amelia. The bridge was hit, DOTD closed it for a few days and then shut down one lane and put a temporary stop light to make it a one lane bridge.
LaDOTD’s new motto:
“We don’t fix things…we just put a bandaid on it until the feds shut it down or it crumbles into dust.”
