Why the frick do you run a play for a 3-point shot when you are down 1 with three seconds left?!?

They never would have expected it

Disgusting. CJ was cold all night too. Give it to the hot hand Jose.

Because Willie Green that's why

Why are you running a play for CJ? He as terrible down the stretch. It should’ve been Jose or Billy. One of Willie’s continued mistakes to me is not playing the hot hand in games.

It was for a baseline jumper. CJ was open. Good play by Gordon to come off the inbounded and make CJ pump fake.
99% chance you can’t get a clean look at the rim with everyone switching and other option is to throw out to 3 point lines at top of key. In that scenario you’ve got to hope you can throw it accurately over Gordon. Tough ask
Who the play was run for is debatable. But the play itself was quality

Billy wide open for a layup but Herb missed him.
The play was good. Your options are limited when in bounding from the baseline . Cutting/coming off screens towards the ball And players responsibility to read the screen to be open .

I saw that, when I saw him get free I thought we would have hit him for the game winning basket but things happen fast I guess

Let’s be honest with ourselves. Even if the correct read would’ve been made by Herb, he would’ve fouled someone on Denver on the last possession and they still would’ve won.

Yeah they need to try something a bit different.
I am not sure what its called but where the players all line up and then disperse. Much harder to defend that that shite Willy calls.

The bigger play was Willie not calling timeout when Jokic hit the go ahead with 16.9 left. You’re down 1 with two timeouts. Call a play to shoot before 7 seconds and if you miss, you foul and still have a timeout. Piss poor clock management.

One of the first lessons I ever learned in basketball by watching Larry Bird in the early 80s is when down by 1 and you have the last shot, drive to the goal for 2.
There's the added possibility of at least getting fouled and tying it or winning it at the FT line.

Willie was WIDE TF open cutting to the basket too.

quote:His coaching in the 4th quarter is very questionable. More motivation than coaching. That call was horrendous. CJ was already 0-7 from 3 and was ice cold. Pathetic coaching.

CJ McCollum is supposed to be a shooter. Willie got him a wide open look. He airballed it.
It doesn’t seem that complicated to me.

Looking at these still images, there was no way possible for Herb to get that pass around Gordon, his only option was to get it into CJ.
Now, Herb seeing that he should've used our second timeout to get a second chance at Denver making a mistake, but Denver played the inbounds pass perfectly.

your attitude must be painful to endure.
I choose Pollyanna.
love is in the air.
the team is wonderful and we get a lot more nba fun still.
the big boys will be back and for a while the Pelicans will be worldbeaters.

It’s the dog days man
I’ll buy back in after the NFL season and if Ingram and Zion ever decide to both grace us with their presence on the court at the same time again.
We are sitting at 26-23 and really should be a minimum of 31-18 right now. It’s hard not to be salty as the season is slowly but surely pissing itself away.
