Knee surgery experience

If it’s arthroscopic it took me about two weeks of therapy to start running. I had a bad meniscus tear.

They plug the cartilage defect with your own healthy cartilage or cadaver graft. Mine will be cadaver bc the defect is too big to be able to harvest enough healthy cartilage from my knee.

The meniscus is an easy recovery. You’ll probably be immobilized for a while being you are having the OATS done. Have to make sure that it adheres.

Just had meniscus repair (not OATS).

I am a few weeks following a 2-week "no fly zone" (no exercise) and everything about it (I mean everything) has been easy.

Procedure easy, mild swelling, near no pain, gradual back to working out (no impact stuff yet)...nothing to it.

I worked in surgery and we did a few knee scopes with the OATS. They were usually there months earlier where the biopsy was taken to grow the tissue. Pretty neat procedure.

I had a scope done November 28. Clipped part of meniscus. No pain after and never used crutches or took pain meds. Did 4 weeks of physical therapy. About 2 weeks after PT ended I now have severe pain on inside part of knee. I’m fine sitting but when up putting pressure on it I am experiencing a lot of pain. Doctor has prescribed anti inflammatory (seglentis) that my insurance hasn’t approved yet. After this he suggests the gel injections. What’s the next step if gel injections don’t work. I’m thinking too much meniscus was cut and that’s why it now feels like bone on bone.
