We're heading there this year.

Will do the Christmas Market - any other suggestions?

Not for thanksgiving but I have been there. Love it. It is the closest you will get to Paris on this side of the pond. The food is French, the architecture is French, the people speak French.
We stayed at the Chateau Frontiac, the fortress like hotel on top of the cliff. Highly recommend.

Good point. Is OP going up during US Thanksgiving (November) or Canadian Thanksgiving (October)?

I did a Montreal thanksgiving last year solo (was working in Boston) .... was snowy and chilly, but incredibly relaxing. I know the city well enough, so focused on mostly drinking and eating. Including the Liverpool House for Turkey day. Don't miss the main museum ...it's a great way to spend the holiday weekend.

We did Montreal for Thanksgiving in 2018... It was unseasonably cold and snowing, but we didnt mind (coming from Chi).. We had a great time! Had reservations at Joe Beef on Thanksgiving night!
