Doesn’t mean he can’t come out. Hmm.

He isn't going to come out. It's over and it's time to move on. BK chose Daniels over Howard, but at the end of the day QB transfers are the norm.

Perfect summation of it. And at this point, choosing Daniels over Howard is completely justified. Howard needs another year or two until the game slows down enough for him to start. He’s just not willing to accept that.

Not when they are a legacy recruit and they are still freshman. Him entering the portal and not even fighting Nuss for even a second just reeks of fear, inadequacy, and a complete lack of self-confidence. It's actually a little pathetic for him to enter the portal, when his dad was a QB at LSU and he's still just a freshman.

Here’s to hoping he goes to TCU with his BFF

Gets developed for 2 years. Maybe starts in year 2? all the while getting enough credits to graduate.

Then comes back as a grad transfer ready to take the reigns from Nuss for 2 years.

It could happen!

I will help you out here. BK chose JD and Nuss to prep for bowl game. Howard thru the towel in because he did not have the stones to compete. If you think there wont be an open completion in the spring your a fool. What coach does not want the best for his offense? We were never going to be able to keep 4 QB on the roster. The least talented and mentally tough entered the portal. That's exactly how its supposed to work, weed out the weak.

Maybe he has an awesome reputation in the locker room but if I'm one of his teammates I don't think he could win me back.

You can't be a leader with one foot out the door. Let him walk and get a QB out of the portal.

Nuss
JD
Howard

Gotta lose one. It's a no-brainer for 2023 Season.

If you say otherwise, we can't take you seriously.

Shocking, a true freshman can't beat a true sophomore, who can't beat out a fifth year starter.

Even with a transfer I expect Howard to take a second year to develop. Transfer now didn’t make sense to me. But he has to do what appears best for him, as it looks to him. Good luck to him.

Y’all Jayden haters trying to blame him because a scout team qb decides to transfer because he can’t even beat out the backup

Guys like Trevor Lawrence and eventually tua did it.

From what I’ve seen of walker he’s not one of those guys.

He obviously thinks he isn’t either or he would stay one year and then be able to beat out nuss. You are either a lion or a sheep. And if he’s asking himself that question then he sure as hell ain’t no lion

Why is a public announcement relevant in the first place? The lines of communication are already in place. He is an individual football player making an individual decision, and it’s nobody else’s business.

Why has football become such a soap opera, drama filled, theatrical shite show?

It means he probably has already had some back-channel discussions and has a pretty good idea of what his options are. If you already have suitors and are not trying to get publicity, then this is how you handle it.

There is no chance a top tier recruited qb with an educated and wealthy family makes this decision based on fear or anything else. It is based on objective standards. They reviewed the depth chart which has changed since he committed in a way that was not expected and is not consistent with the promises made to them during the recruitment process.

The depth chart and all objective evidence says that JD is your starter next year. Walker probably has had discussions with Nuss and Walker's dad possibly with Nuss's dad. Based on those discussions and information that is coming from BK they likely believe Nuss will be the starter the next 2 years after JD, or at least 1 year. They probably also look at what is being recruited behind them as well.

Based on all of this information they decided that the best course is to get Howard to a team where the depth chart is better to get him on the field sooner. There is one simple reason for this and it is experience and to build up game tape for NFL scouts. NFL and 1st round money is the objective here, not to play for LSU. Playing for LSU was a secondary objective and a means to an end.

They are not at LSU out of blind loyalty, fandom, or anything else. They are there to get playing time and film for NFL teams to look at for the NFL Draft and prepare the kid to play at the next level.

These are not emotional decisions or fear, these are well thought out and researched business decisions based on evidence.

If he enters the portal, just to return, he loses all Political Capital he has with the team. Look at how that turned out for Brennan. Once you enter the portal, unless you simply did it to get paid more under NIL by the boosters of the team you are on as a strategy move and they are desperate for your services, then your political capital and loyalty within the team are done.
