Democrats seek reparations, ‘national apology’ for slavery: ‘We are moving closer’
Dozens of House Democrats this week renewed their push for reparations and a national apology for slavery by reintroducing legislation that would set up a commission to consider these steps as way to address the "cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery" in the U.S.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, and 52 House Democrats proposed the legislation this week in an effort to keep the issue alive. Her legislation, which was considered by the House Judiciary Committee in the last Congress when Democrats were in charge, is unlikely to taken up in the 118th Congress led by Republicans.
Still, Jackson Lee said she is hopeful a commission can be formed not just to recommend monetary compensation, but to help America understand how slavery still affects the country today.

Yea just like they always do they waited until they no longer control the House so they can blame the Rs. Why didn't they do this the past two years when they had all the power?
It's time to start dangling that carrot so they can promise it in exchange for 2024 votes

Bribing voters should be illegal.

Reparations have already been paid by the blood spilled on the battlefields during the US Civil War by thousands of dead American soldiers on both sides of the conflict.
The issue was settled and the debt fulfilled IMO.

Wouldn't be more significant if a white politician introduced this apology legislation?
This is like a Jewish politician introducing legislation to apologize for the Holocaust.

I am in favor of this. All the Democrats should apolgize for the evils of slavery that their party bought championed prior to the Civil War.

They had all 3 branches and did nothing, they just need someone to blame now.

95% black vote. That’s a lot of money to try to get the other 5%.

but to help America understand how slavery still affects the country today.
Slavery still impacts the country today mainly through the Illusory truth effect. Tell people enough times that their continued poor life choices are because someone they've never met was enslaved by someone else they've never met and they'll eventually believe it.
Why do black males aged 32 and younger commit vastly more homicides than any other group? Somehow: slavery.
The vast majority of black females are obese, who caused this? Slavery.
As a per capita, more blacks are on welfare programs than every other racial demographic. Why? Slavery.
By saying "slavery" it absolves (to varying degrees, depending on who is making the statement) the responsible party of their responsibility as the excuse becomes "I was made to do this because of slavery".
It's the ideology of those who don't/won't think for themselves and it's pushed by those who prey on them.

Am I missing something here? I could have sworn there had been an apology on congressional record.
Haven't some state legislatures done this? Wouldn't that had been more appropriate since it was after all a state thing then? The concept of a stronger federal government was a result of the Civil War.

No.
That sort of thing is how we got Obama

So assume it happens. What happens after? Racism is over? Do they start to address the issues within black culture that tends to lead to them being less successful? Can white people drop the n-bomb?
I need to know these things.
I need to know these things.

You want to know why this won't work? Because the first black person to be deemed "not from slaves" will burn that city to the fricking ground. They aren't just going to sit around and watch other black folks get $200K and not lose their collective shite.

Is McRino supporting this crap?

Anyone who can prove they were enslaved at the time of the Emancipation Proclamation is free to seek reparations.
In other news, I find it interesting the overwhelming mindfrick that the Democrat Plantation has performed on Black America, having convinced them that if your skin is brown, you were DEFINITELY descended from slaves.
