No word on what it means for Svoboda, current OC. but the athletic had article last week that Nagle has been play caller all season since last spring, so not surprising

Wow. Slade was QB at McNeese State and his dad was a long time college assistant. Good for him. I believe he is the nephew of Bobby Keesler former McNeese coach and ULM coach. He’s lived football his whole life.

Rumors on the Tulane board are that Svoboda could be on the move. Maybe Iowa?

As I recall, Nagle and Major Applewhite were the 2 big Louisiana H.S. quarterback recruits in one year in the late 90s.

That class of ‘97 is so underrated. Applewhite, Travis Minor, Reggie Wayne, Ed Reed and myself

I saw his name being tossed around by multiple insiders as our top target if Briles had actually left.

Yes, Coach Keasler was at NI, then IIRC, went to NELA when they had some great seasons as their DC, I think
I was unaware that Slade Nagle was related to him in any way, but Trey Quinn is his grandson
Keasler became McNeese’s head coach after Sonny Jackson, who followed McCann. I have a lot of NI and McNeese ties. I was at that NI vs St Aug game at Cajun Field

I believe you’re thinking of Trey Quinn that’s related to Keasler
He’s the GOAT McNeese coach
Slades a good dude. Grew up playing south Lake Charles with him. The baseball talent in LC was insane when we played in the late 90s
Before us was Chad Cooley
Slade and his brother Austin
Drew Topham
Joe Lawrence
Yogi Caesar
Johnny Thibodeaux (RIP)
David Blank
Jeff Robinson
That was the start of the Barbe dominance
If they would combined Mid City and South Lake Charles, I think they would have won the Little League World Series

Ahh…I think you’re right. Wrong Barbe Buc. Both great players and yea the LC baseball talent was insane at that time.
Even to date the SWLA baseball talent is crazy. Typically Barbe, Sam Houston, Sulphur and St. Louis are all deep in the playoffs. Then West Monroe, Central, Catholic BR, St. Amant and Dutch. Probably best programs in the state.

Didn’t Nagle transfer from Clemson to McNeese?
