Any word on him? Evidently he’s been in the portal for a few weeks, but played RB in the bowl game and scored a td.

Word on what? You answered your question. He's in the portal.

Ok. He was in the portal 2 weeks before the game and never played running back before. Seems odd that he would play running back in the bowl game after he entered the portal

And looked good save during Purdue

He deserves a solid look and some commitment by coaches on that position I think

He actually did play RB at the end of the UAB game if I’m not mistaken. DD performed really well with the limited number of carries. After the game CBK was asked about DD and he mentioned that he wished he had seen DD playing at RB earlier, that he might be a good player there and that he would have tried him out. Maybe he is moved to that position and stays? Who knows?

He had carries in a game prior to the Citrus Bowl, the UAB game where he rushed for 28 yards on 5 carries.

He was moved to running back for depth purposes once Goodwin was out for the season.

He also played RB in HS and put up good numbers. Im not sure if that’s what he wants to do but I think with some training, including gearing his body in the offseason for playing that position, he could be really good there. His vision is great and he is very explosive through the LOS. Which is exactly what we need. I’d imagine that he would be pretty good at the swing passes and compliment the option game with our QBs very well.

Indeed. He hits the hole faster than anyone we currently have.

Word is he wants to play safety.

Have to think he’s in the portal to see his options.

This is just my uninformed opinion but I don’t think his heart is set on leaving. I think he’s just exploring options. If he gets a big school offering him a spot at safety or if he’s best served as RB at LSU.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him back in the spring.

I remember watching his high school film and noticed him at RB. What stood out is something that I wish JW had and that is top end speed. He was never close to being caught from behind. That takes a RB from being a good player to a game changer.

That dude was a walk-on bec Purdue hardly had any defensive backs left standing by that point. I hope Davis stays, but people on the Rant and here acting like he would be one of our top 3 RBs next fall in SEC competition need a reality check. We need him to stay and be a LBr.

Might be a crowded rb room next season but no real standouts. Seems he might be the most physically gifted of the rb's. No reason to think he couldn't wind up in heavy rotation at RB in 2023 season.
