That’s what I would do.
Good move. Donalds should stand up and nominate Scalise and make the McCarthy people vote against him.

Yesterday I suggested that she doesn't want to pick sides because no matter who wins she just want to keep the money spigot flowing into Ukraine.
It’s as good a hypothesis as any.

What’s her motivation for continuing to abstain?

Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) said she voted “present” in Wednesday’s Speaker votes to push Republicans to return to deliberations, as the party remains divided on Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) bid for the Speakership. “My concern is that … we didn’t come together yet,” Spartz told reporters. “So, we have to go back to the conference room, to HC-5, and deliberate as a body, as a group of people, and figure it out.” Spartz, who voted for McCarthy for Speaker in the three votes held on Tuesday, said she told McCarthy ahead of time that she would change her vote to “present” on Wednesday to “help with deliberation,” as a group of 20 Republicans continued to block his bid for Speaker.

Also, I know Scalise is swampy as hell but at least we will get some good I-12 and I-10 between NOLA/Slidell and BR infrastructure money.

Scalise just said there is now going to be an 8 round. LOL He is loving every second of this despite his public support for McCarthy.

Am I correct in assuming that the spigot is currently shut off while this is taking place?

NTY
For the life of me I can’t understand why this wasn’t ironed out before they started voting on speaker. With Pelosi there was dissent from the social democrat crew and they ended up backing her after Pelosi made some concessions. Is McCarthy just this egotistical and narcissistic or incompetent.

No new money has been appropriated since the last appropriations (I believe it was an additional $40 billion for Ukraine for a total of $100). Any new appropriations needs to come out of this new congress.

They’ve been trying for months.
You likely noticed McCarthy’s multiple trips across the country of late, attempting to gin up support.

Trump's Power is with the PEOPLE. Congress does not understand this. Congress is in this for themselves. That has always been the problem.

The freedom caucus better come up with a solution now or they are going to end up with McCarthy cutting a deal with the democrats.
They should cut a deal with Scalise and leave McCarthy out of it do it NOW before the eighth vote.
It would not surprise be at all that they adjourn for the weekend sometime today and giving McCarthy a weekend to work with the dems would be bad.

Surely he realized before the votes that he was not going to get it and could have done something to avert the embarrassment. Or, maybe he knew this would happen and thought the propaganda machine would help force them to back him.

An 8th vote is forthcoming.
Steve Scalise: “We’ll be going another round.”
