Just barely got into the stand when this one and two others walked out on me. First sow of the season, its been nothing but boars so far.

Great, I prefer it over deer.

Sow easier on the stomach than a boar.

My experience has been different. Only hog that had any bit of off taste was a small one that was shot in the head and cleaned immediately of all things. It was fine and we ate it all but wasn’t as good as the rest I’ve killed, including big boars.

I hate those frickers with every fiber of my soul. They are destroying my food plots and it’s pissing me off

Delicious. It's a leaner version of store bought, but still plenty of fat. I've never eaten a bad one, including big boars, but I always shoot them in the head.

Yes. If it is a sow or a young boar. This particular sow was about 110lbs and upon skinning her up, she had tons of fat. This one is going to be delicious to cook. I almost contemplated keeping her whole and doing a whole hog cook, but I ended up quartering her up.

Man, fried wild pig backstrap or tenderloins are among some of the best things to eat. Don’t even need a knife.

One of our lease members informed me of the secret - soon as you kill that boar, run up to it and cut off his nuts.

Killed a couple big boars, one well over 300 lbs, that we grilled the back straps in camp the night after I shot it with my thermal, and made sausage out of the rest. It was so dang good in everything we’ve used it in. Would have never thought a big boar with a huge set would eat so good… better than the thick beef streaks we grilled with it…always told you couldn’t eat a big boar; boy, was that wrong…..

I’m told that as long as he wasn’t running or otherwise heated up he will be fine.
We don’t discriminate. Boars and sows get cleaned and cut up and mixed together. Never know which is which when cooking or eating.

Shawn Burks ,a great American and hunter, cuts a plug out of their rump about as big as your little finger. Puts it in the microwave for thirty seconds. If it stinks, throw the hog away.
He told me the best hog they ever had was a boar with huge nuts.

Probably something to that. Wife was cooking stew one time and she said later she thought it stunk while cooking. I really didn’t notice anything wrong, I guess.

Same here. Even on big boars I’ll pull the tenderloins out. Boar quesadillas are fantastic
Or boar pulled pork on kings Hawaiian rolls…man.
Or my version of boar osso bucco…yep
