Well I'm still programing this Rhino Fab to cut and drill fricking storefront. I wish AI would take that job.

We don’t even let passenger planes fly without pilots onboard and that’s by far the most AI-friendly practical utilization that’s “disruptive”.
Color me skeptical this AI will do anything in the next 10 years besides replace McDonald’s workers.

Unless they connect the AI to the internet it won’t be that fun. A lot of the things I ask it is too offensive, can’t use real people, or it’s not connected to the internet.

I tried to explain singularity to my friend he didn't understand it
Singularity is when technological advancement becomes so rapid it seems almost instantaneous and we enter some sort of future we humans can not grasp nor understand.
Think of it like this:
- We created a computer in 1980, it took ten years for a computer to be developed that was twice as powerful
- In 1995 we created a computer twice as powerful as the one in 1990 (double the speed of the last one). We were able to do so using the computer technology we had.
- In 1997 we created a computer twice as powerful as the one in 1995, double the speed of the last doubling. Again using computers and the internet to help us develop this.
- Eventually we will create technology using AI that can develop a new "computer" in minutes, and using that new "computer" can develop a new "computer" in seconds...
It is technology using technology to make new technology
Eventually AI will help us make new AI or "computers" so fast it will seem instant, and then with the theory of relativity with this speed time will seem to stand still, or not exist, or whatever, we will be neuralink robots plugged in and accelerating through improved technology near the speed of light

You’re looking at this wrong. Anything you do that is routine and handled the same way nearly every time will be automated. That’s probably 60-80% of what a lot of us do.
Look at Self Checkout. One cashier now manages 10 registers instead of 10 cashiers actively manning 10 registers. In the near future a lot of jobs that had previously required teams of people can be handled by one person. From graphic design to business analysis to legal research, pretty much any job that people use computers to complete will require a lot less human input to get the same output.

Doesn’t seem like I am.

I understand the logic behind this. But that doesn’t mean it can be achieved in reality (or practicality). While I do think AI will eventually become a problem, I don’t see humans being overtaken by swarms of gray goo nanobots (which is one of the theories of some very smart people).

We are so fricked. I firmly believe that the advancement of AI will end humanity within the next 100 years. Maybe the next 50.

The entire country just spent two years bowing down and taking orders from the government and while being stripped of our freedoms instantly. All of our manufacturing is done overseas. So we have a country that is full of people that will conform and do what they’re told combined with a corporate machine that only cares about profit margins. Once AI is accepted culturally it will spread because it will be so financially beneficial to have a machine doing what 10 or 100 people can do. We already have a ton of people that also allow their tesla’s drive them around. Half of this country has no pride and no longer wants to work. It’s not that difficult to connect the dots on how easy this can grow out of control so quickly. How long has the pronouns and gender controversy been a thing? A few years? And now grown arse men can piss in the women’s bathroom at Target. The genie is already out of the bottle. We are so fricked
