Would a six-pack every night be considered an alcoholic?

I would say so, but a friend very much takes issue with that.

Is he physically or mentally dependent on it?

He may not be an alcoholic but his liver will eventually act up.

No. That’s just weird. Either you drink to get drunk or you don’t drink at all. Unless you’re a hipster. So then, yea getting drunk every night would be a alchie.

**ETA…..let me add for the downvoters who probably don’t have much experience with alcoholism (fortunately)……alcoholics drink to get drunk. It’s to dull some other source of pain (physical, emotional, mental, etc). If a person can voluntarily stop at a six pack
Alcoholism on [off]

Get real.

I have a friend of mine who just retired at 59. He loved his beer.

Just had half his liver removed and undergoing chemo.

Reminds me of your friend.

I started having a couple of bourbons 4-5 times a week during the Wuhan and I’m still doing it to today. I rarely get shitfaced, just like the buzz after work most days and I sometimes wonder as well lol.

This question only makes me more sure this country is fricked.

1. Mind your own fricking business
2. Most 6 packs of beer are better for you than the 5 Red Bulls, star buck lattes and cokes most drink.

can he take a few nights off?

There is a difference between drinking a lot and being in alcoholic.

I've known alcoholics. I've known heavy drinkers.

I would define myself as an alcoholic who recognizes my issues with alcohol and can force myself to have only maybe 4 or 5 drinks a month without going farther.

Idk about the other ones, but I have numerous acquaintances that easily crush more than five sodas a day.

When I was about 7 or 8 is when my dad starting putting away 6 beers a night pretty easily

It was a 12 pack by the time I was in high school - his liver was clear when they did his autopsy

But he did drink a lot of water & coffee also
